Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, hotel in Norwich

Situated in 150 acres of wooded parkland, the Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort hotel combines Elizabethan and Victorian styles.

Lovely grounds, excellent breakfast, great mixture of locals and guests in the swimming pool. A top quality venue that clearly reaches out to its community. The room was nice, the beds were good. We had an enjoyable stay, but for a family of 4, we would book something larger next time.

Holiday Inn Norwich North, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Norwich

Enjoy large, spacious air-conditioned rooms, ample parking, a restaurant, a lounge/bar and a fully equipped health club pool and gym, plus attentive, welcoming service.

The staff were friendly, the room was spacious, and there was lots of parking available. Despite being close to the airport, we didn't hear any planes and the area was generally quiet. Great location for both exploring Norwich and visiting the Norfolk coast by car.

FAQs about hotels in Norwich

A Centre of Commerce Through The Ages

Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.

Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.

Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.

Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.

Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

Norwich is a lovely old city.

Norwich is a lovely old city. It has a charming city centre with small alleys filled with nice cafés, shops, restaurants and bars. It has an art university and is lively with ongoing exhibitions. The expenses are not as high as big cities but the experience is as good. The people are super friendly.

I was a first time visitor to Norwich and though I had been told it was nice, I was surpised by just how much I liked it. I wasn't prepared for the extensive cobbled medieval streets, ancient churches, masses of small independent shops etc. It's a great place for the history buff, photographer or shopaholic alike.

Lots of great independent restaurants, cafes, cocktail bars and craft beer pubs. St. John the baptist Cathedral was stunning both from the outside and the amazing stained glass windows on the inside (you don't have to be religious to appreciate the beauty of this architecture!). Everybody we met were friendly and helpful Lovely little market with a craft beer stall and lots of food outlets. Highlights for me was a cute little cafe called the Courtyard cafe where we had breakfast and second (recommended to us by one of the owners of the Courtyard cafe) was The Wallow, a self-service wine bar where you could top up a card and help yourself to the various wines on tap from the vending machines or just try a sample for a small price. This coupled with an amazing charcuterie, cheese and accompaniment board was just perfect! Found the city more alternative than I thought which we loved, not necessarily a whole lot to do in terms of sightseeing in the main centre but would definitely go back just for the food and drink alone!

Norwich is a compact and historic city.

Norwich is a compact and historic city. The streets around the magnificent Cathedral has very interesting well preserved medieval buildings. The Cathedral itself is well worth visiting. In addition to the Cathedral there is a well preserved Norman Castle. Many good places to eat out and drink. Also guided tours are available.
