I have stayed at Port Macquarie quite a lot over the years.
I have stayed at Port Macquarie quite a lot over the years. It is changing at a rapid pace and the traffic has certainly increased. I still enjoy it but being from an older generation a quieter pace for me would suit me better. North Haven is only a short drive away and the scenic drive through to there is lovely. Sea Acres is one of my favourite places to visit. I would recommend a drive out to Wauchope it has good shopping and a drive to Comboyne for morning or afternoon tea at the udder cow is well worth the drive. Stunning scenery.

Everybody was friendly and helpful.
Everybody was friendly and helpful. Easy place to get around in a car. Many 'photo' opportunities. My friend and I both left 'essentials' behind and had to shop as soon as we got there. No problem. Great walks, beaches and every type of restaurant. You won't be disappointed. We unfortunately didn't try the 'blue cow' ice-cream as we should have had it as an entree instead of dessert as que was too long after dinner. Will get there earlier next year.

Port Macquarie is a very nice area.
Port Macquarie is a very nice area. People are friendly and restaurants were nice. The air was clean and crisp. The river cruise was excellent. It lived up to its name. We saw plenty of Dolphins and a few whales breaching. All in all it was great.

I decided to stop halfway my train journey from Brisbane to Sydney and picked Port Macquarie and it did not disappoint!
Beautiful beaches with whale tails and dolphins in the far distance. Plenty of choices to eat and drink.
Absolutely loved the breakfast buffet at Zebu bar&restaurant but absolute winner for breakfast is the salty crew kiosk at Town beach for a toastie with coffee seated at the beach.
The coastal path walk to lighthouse tacking point is stunning! Beautiful views and beaches, high tide can make it extra special! I took the bus back to Port line 322.
Don’t forget to visit and support the koala hospital and roto house… it’s lovely to sit on the veranda with and ice coffee and a snack or lunch.

Port Macquarie is a terrific place to stay, either making it a halfway stop over trip from Sydney to Brisbane, or just a quick long Wednesday . The beaches are clean and walking tracks run along the coast line offering spectacular views including whale watching from all the town beaches. Sensational cafes with beach views. Great selection of restaurants and plenty of community club facilities, e.g bowling, leagues, and golf clubs. The surrounding hinterland offers plenty of activities, vineyards and bush walking. It's my favorite place on the coast to stay.

There is plenty of accommodation close to town near the water. Scenic cruises are available. Lovely scenic drives. Attractions such as the Lighthouse, Douglas Vale historic homestead and winery, boutique brewery, Roto heritage house and Koala hospital. We ate in our accommodation at The Waters Edge and also a restaurant within easy walking distant across the bridge at Ridges. Great deal Tues/Wed 2 meals plus bottle of wine for $65.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Port Macquarie
When I checkd in , the staff clearly told me book breakfast at the counter is $5 or walk in is $30ish. However when I see the bills they charged $25 which is only $5 cheaper . When I called to understand , they were very unfriendly to say that it was not their mistake . It was my hearing problem . No problem , I stayed over 60 nights this year across Accor I am plantium and booking and trip.com all are plantium memberships . Never shall I have ever had such experience before .
we love the location being so close to beaches, always our first choice of accommodation at port Macquarie
