I like the feeling of the new hotel. Room is comfortable. Able to sleep well in spite of proximity to train trackline. The staff were also friendly & helpful in places to eat for dinner. I enjoyed the morning buffet breakfast with a good spread of food. Restaurant staff were cheerful.

Shino that runs the place is a super very friendly host and speaks almost fluently English. She surprised us with great food (both dinner, breakfast and lunch boxes for our hiking). Also a surprise she organized a drive up to takahara at no extra cost so that we did not have to hike up to the kumano kodo trail.

There was a quaint cafe/sweet shop within walking distance that we fell in love with. They served amazing coffee in hand made cups and had the most delightful assortment of sweets and lollies - even Halloween sweets

Staff was able to provide information clearly and was fluent in English. He was also very kind to pick us up from the train station for free. He also provided suggestions for sight seeing and restaurants. Highly recommend the accommodation due to the service and facilities.

Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. I think we could have stayed a whole week if we weren't going on our trek.

Beautiful location, easily accessed by the bus from Kii-Tanabe. We paid for the meal option, to cover dinner, breakfast and a bento box for lunch while hiking, and the food was delicious. Our hosts looked after all our needs, including transportation in the morning a couple of kilometres up the road to Takijiri and the start of our trek on the Kumano Kodo. It was nice sharing meals with other guests who were also hiking the trail. We ended up crossing paths with them along the way.
The guesthouse was located in a beautiful location on one of the Komano Kodo trails. The host was kind enough to pick us up in Tanabe and then drop us off at the start of the Nakahechi route early the next day. The home is a restored historic Japanese farmhouse so, if you want an experience that goes back in time, this ones' for you. Plums are grown in the area and the host was gracious enough to share their homemade umeboshi liquor with us.
Ike is such a nice host, helpful and knowing everything about the Kumano Kodo, and can answer all questions related with it. The breakfast and the bendo box is delicious. The dinner is greater with home brewed Plum wine, oishii.
The room is cozy and although shared shower, it is big and clean, better shower than some hotels. Highly recommended
Japanese style room in traditional house in the alley close to Tanabe railways and bus station. Nearby there are plenty of small restaurants and it is at 50m from a main road with all shops. Common kitchen and bathrooms. Friendly owner. Shared living room with local interest books available.
