The elegant spa town of Harrogate has some of England’s finest Victorian architecture. Lush greenery and colourful flowers also add to the stately atmosphere.
The main attraction is the Turkish Baths and Health Spa, in a 19th-century building which maintains its original Moorish interior design. Nearby is the Royal Pump Room Museum, set over Europe’s strongest sulphur well and detailing the town’s history.
One ongoing Harrogate institution is Bettys Tea Rooms which serves fabulous afternoon tea. Surrounded by the unique shops of the Montpellier Quarter, it overlooks gardens which continue south to meet The Stray – over 200 acres of parkland whose vibrant spring blossom is quite a sight. On the opposite side of town are the Grade II-listed Valley Gardens, whose bandstand hosts summer concerts. The gardens merge into a pine wood which neighbours the acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens.
Aside from its visual beauty, the town is also important for conferences. Harrogate International Centre is one of the UK’s top convention venues - just one of the reasons why the accommodation industry here is thriving.
Options on Booking.com include 5-star hotels with spas, cheap apartments near the train station, and guest houses with parking. The nearest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport to the south.

We had gone to visit the Harlow Carr Glow having waited for five years to make it happen. We had a wonderful pre Christmas experience and the Pine Marten added to it. Also managed a visit to Harrogate on our first day for some excellent Christmas shopping and a visit to the Yorkshire Show ground to visit the Christmas fair before going home. A great outing.

We stayed in an excellent location and apartment was fabulous, clean and had all the amenities we required. Sasso restaurant was fabulous and literally just round the corner. A 2 minutes walk and you are where all the shops are we couldn't have asked for better location and we most definitely will be going back. We would have loved to have gone to Harlow Carr to see the light display but it was cancelled due to the storm but we will do it next year.

The Turkish spa is a must to warm up and relax.
The Turkish spa is a must to warm up and relax. The restaurants can be a bit pricey, so choose wisely. If I went to Harrogate again, I would go via the train, as parking is very difficult. It was very quaint and street lighting in some areas was not well lit, even though it was the end of November. The 'little bird' Christmas fair was lovely and there were some different handcrafted items. I would definitely do the Christmas Market again.

A superb hotel lovely facilities and staff were more than helpful vouchers given to us for a welcome drink. You do have to pay £8 a day for the car park. Harrogate town centre about 10 minute walk. The negative was the room was on back and it was really hot Saturday so we needed to open the window but the extractor fans were going till about 10.30pm then started again at about 5.45 am.
Room was cosy with a huge bathroom .
Welcoming staff with parking at the rear.
One of the best breakfast menu's I've seen. All locally sourced.
Position in the centre of Harrogate
Busy on an evening offering wide variety of drinks plus a happy hour.
