FAQs about hotels in Munich

Beyond Oktoberfest

Renowned for its stunning architecture and the world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest, Munich needs little introduction. Its vibrant cultural scene, great shopping and fantastic museums speak for themselves.

Munich has something for everyone: from historic palaces and castles, to stunning royal avenues to world class galleries and museums. Don't miss the new city hall, or Glockenspiel, in the heart of Marienplatz or the former residence of the Bavarian kings, the Residenz. Munich is also home to the world’s most famous beer hall, the Hofbräuhaus.

For great shopping, Karlsplatz is a pedestrian zone which takes up much of the city centre and the upscale area around Maximilianstrasse is yet another commercial wonderland. Munich is famous for its food too, so make sure you try the local Weißwurst, Leberkässemmeln and other popular pork dishes.

Thanks to efficient S-Bahn train, getting to the city center from Germany’s second busiest airport, Munich International Airport is quick and easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, youth hostels or comfortable apartments, Booking.com has the perfect accommodation for your Munich visit.

Munich is definitely a very beautiful historical city.

Munich is definitely a very beautiful historical city. Public transportation was a breeze though many places are reachable by foot. However, when visiting during Christmas season, do take note of the opening hours (check for each place) and plan your trip accordingly. Best to make reservations for restaurants. Alternatively, room service in the comfort of your hotel room can be considered - we had a few :)

You need to experience it personally to appreciate Munich. The city is very clean and the architecture of the old buildings are simply breathtaking. A ride in the tourist hop on - hop off is a must for first timers. Please try all the bakeries there - the pastries are just amazing !

Christmas market was excellent and spread throughout the city. Stalls have genuine handmade quality products. Plenty of stalls to have food and drink from. Munich is well connected by train and we went to Augsburg for the day. We could have also gone to Regensburg or Garmish for the day.

I loved the atmosphere of beautiful old buidings. Visited 2 beer halls (Haufbrau House restaurant. Great fun.Great German food. Did not like the Duetche (sorry spelling)Museum at all. Too much high tech, little interaction for kids ( I am thinking Museum of science and Industry- Chicago) ,and barely any old history. House)

We travelled to Munich for the Xmas market which turned out to be very disappointing after see other markets. We found the people rude and impolite with no manners. The main pedestrianized shopping area has no public benches for people to rest and there are no public toilets.

We used to live in Munich, which means we know our way around. Our trip was to see some friends and some Christmas Markets/Weinachtsmarkts. That also meant that the city was a ZOO! Getting around on any form of transit was full of people. The new 'pushers' on the S-Bahn at the main train station was a weird experience.... especially when the locals don't move when the doors on the train open (getting in or out).... so weird. Aside from that... a great time was had. Thanks Munich!

Amazing hotel which has 4 starts for a good reason! Great, spacious rooms, exceptional cleanliness. The staff are very polite and ready to accommodate various requests, also ready to go beyond the reservation specs. Location is a bit off the city centre, but there is a direct line (S4, S6) which city centre easily reachable. Also this one of the cheapest 4-star hotels in Munich, considerably cheaper than many hotels with one, two or three stars. Great impression. I stayed there twice, and I will be returning for sure!

Excellently located hotel a world away from the hub-bub of Munich city centre, but only a few stops away from the main squares and other sights. Staff were very helpful and friendly and you felt immediately at home here. Breakfast had a lot of selection, but did get busy at times with an over-spill area in the reception, that worked ok though. Ask the staff for when the quieter times are. Nearby there are restaurants, U-Bahn, a park, buses and a beer garden. A great place to stay in Munich overall.

The hotel was a great location for the train station and city centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly/pleasant. Breakfast was great. Rooms a little dated but were comfortable, nice size, very clean, safe for valuables. We stayed three nights initially and then returned for a further night and would certainly book the hotel again for a future stay in Munich

The hotel is some distance from the city centre but that for me was a plus... Munich is full of bars and pubs and lots of drunk, loud tourists ...The hotel is far enough that it's quiet area and yet in 10 min walk and you are entering the "fun" zone. This is large chain hotel so everything is expected, clean , well run, overall nothing majorly bad.
