We didn’t have the breakfast because we left for the ferry at 6 AM. The power was off when we got there and stayed off until the next morning so that made it rather challenging.

We enjoyed our stay in their smaller but very comfortable room that has a patio with an fabulous view of the bay — but the exceptionally delicious seafood breakfast at Stephen’s Bay Inn makes the experience here above and beyond. We were also greeted with a fresh crab and prawn plate “snack” the afternoon of our arrival. We appreciated that they adjusted menus to a food intolerance. We would return for the breakfast alone!
Host had excellent backroad maps and good tips for activities in the local area. Wish we had stayed long enough to partake of the kayaks.

I loved the views of Port Hardy, but shopping in the Mall was not a great , the toilet situation was not a good experience, I would say a young person aprox 20 to 25 yrs old was in the toilet for about 1/2hr, scary as I think he was using drugs,
There were several of us waiting to use the facility

Need a car to get around.
Need a car to get around. Book tours etc before you go as very little information or advertising when you get there. We maybe should have done this and we would have found something to do!. There are walking trails but not very well advertsied. Beautiful untouched and natural scenery around that area. Telegraph Cove is a must.. Not many places to eat and very few shops.

Port Hardy is a beautiful city, but not many options for coffee shops or places to stop in for a drink other that the restaurants in the hotels. Lots of places to explore and walking trails by the Harbour and met some locals fishing off the pier by the Marina. If one brought their fishing rods, this would be a nice way to spend some time. I could have easily stayed 2-3 nights here but it's generally used as a hub for Cape Scott or BC Ferries heading up the Inside Passage. The nature here is next to none and lots of food options in the Save on Foods for those wanting to eat in. There is a BC Liquor store which has everything else you might need.

Port Hardy is a small town surrounded by nature.
Port Hardy is a small town surrounded by nature. If you enjoy beach walks, hiking, biking, boating or camping it is a great base to explore the outdoors. The North Island is absolutely beautiful and full of wildlife. Port Hardy has a great coffee shop, Cafe Guido, great bookstore with a selection of local authors - Booknook, and a great little local market Copper and Kelp, plus a good restaurant at Kwa’lilas Hotel.

A great little quiet town with trails nearby and a good place to access the NW tip of the island from. It's beautiful and we could see wildlife right out our window or as we walked along the boardwalk.

Its a great place to go see wildlife (bears crossing the road, great whale watching available), go hiking and do wilderness excursions but there is very little to do in town itself with particularly limited options for keeping younger kids entertained. There is a nice sandy beach on the Port Rupert side but it can get windy.

An exceptional property, had everything you could need for a short or long term stay. The hosts Chris and Gord were fantastic with all the little touches that really makes you feel welcome. A short stroll back to town and all the eateries . Would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Port Hardy
We booked this hotel, as we wanted to take the ferry to Bella Coola, which leaves very early in the morning. Therefor the hotel is in the perfect location. Otherwise Port Hardy is not a very picturesque part of the world.
