Kal is definitley coming into its own, although accommodation is still at a premium. Some great eateries and bars and a (new ?) brewery. Its a very walkable town, and we saw everything on offer easily in 2 days. Hired a car for a day to go further afield, including a visit to the Broad Arrow Tavern.

There is plenty to do and see if you are interested in the history of gold mining and the town. There are also a number of places to visit with in a short distance. The big pit is probably the number one attraction but there is also plenty of information on other attractions available at the Information Centre. There is limited public transport vis buses but best to hire a car. We used Racey Rentals who were very good and were able to meet the train. There are plenty of diverse eating venues and hotels to get a drink. Interesting place Kalgoorlie and its surrounds.

    The history here is amazing.

The history here is amazing. I am born and bred in WA and knew some of it but learned so much more. Gosh they did it hard. We take so much for granted. Some of the buildings are gorgeous while others are very run down or have become unsafe, a shame but a lot of $ would be needed to sort them out. Gorgeous wide streets. Has a really nice feel about it. Spring the perfect time to go. Lots to see and the museums were very, very good with some fantastic photos.

    Super pit was amazing.

Super pit was amazing. The tram is a must if you don’t come with transport. Drive yourself probably better easy to get around and you can spend time at each place or go on tram before you start looking around yourself as people on the tram had already taken themselves to most places. Great place to walk around. We enjoyed our stay. One tip if you are planning a short trip. Most tours and places of interest don’t open on weekends.

    Fascinating history and architecture.

Fascinating history and architecture. Personal transport is needed to explore properly, with proper planning. PLEASE provide money to mend the clerestory roof on the Geological Museum - that mineral display is magnificent, and we were so looking forward to spending hours there again. Unfortunately, not possible at present.

The service at the Information Centre was fantastic.

The service at the Information Centre was fantastic. We enjoyed all the attractions and particularly liked the historic buildings and the history of the region. The council seem to have pride and be doing good job. The town is clean and Lemon Grass a great Thai restaurant.
