The property has an excellent location right across from the pier. There is a grocery store right down the street as well as a couple of restaurants practically right out the front door. This is a wonderful little town and works well for a stopover on the Ring of Kerry or to visit Skellig Michael Island. It had everything we needed for our short stay.

The setting was incredible, an old, remodelled farmhouse that was equal parts charming as comfortable. The bedrooms were cozy, the bathroom amazing, the kitchen had an old feel to it and one could get a sense of old Ireland! I had my morning coffee in the garden listening to the birdsong and sheep. I highly recommend this place; it is perfect for couples or families. We did the Skellig Michael landing tour the following day which was outstanding!

Super cute caravans with retro feel, nice having the outside table and chairs to sit out by your caravan. Having the Old Stone Cottage to use for eating meals is also great. Just note that there is a microwave, kettle and toaster (I.e. no hob or oven) to cook on. But great selection of cereals and conserves for toast for breakfast, and some lovely pubs and restaurants in Portmagee. Really helpful owner, who was very responsive to our queries.

We had the absolute privilege of spending a few days in Cul Cottage over Easter 2024. Ger and Derarca have created something really special here, allowing people to experience a step back in time on the edge of Ireland. Staying in a 200-year old cottage is, of course, not going to be the same as a modern holiday home...the house has its quirks and that's part of the charm! Bring plenty of fuel for the stove, get cosy and enjoy this very special place.
