Why Visit Spain in November

Despite tricky weather conditions, Spain in the winter months has its advantages.

  • Fewer people: Tourists visit Spain all year round, but November is one of the months with fewer visitors. If you prefer quieter tourist attractions, then November is the perfect month to book your holiday.
  • More affordable prices: Prices in November are also comparatively cheaper than the other months. You can get huge discounts of up to 30 percent for your accommodation and other services. If you are on a low budget and the rain doesn't bother you, November will not disappoint you.
  • Festivity and celebrations: November is also a month full of festivals. For instance, you can check out the Orujo Festival. This festival takes place in the city of Potes in the north of the country. It aims to celebrate the Orujo liquor, a strong pomace brandy that has been distilled since the Middle Ages. During the Orujo Festival, you will experience public distillation of Orujo and get the chance to taste it while walking on the ancient streets of the city.
The Friday of the second week of November is also marked by the beginning of the annual Benidorm fiestas. This celebration takes place in honor of Benidorm’s patron Saints ‘San Jaime Apóstol’ and ‘la Virgen del Sufragio’. During this festivity, the streets of Benidorm will host several parties, open-air theaters, music events, and sports contests. The Benidorm fiestas end the following Wednesday with a parade of decorated floats and a fantastic firework display.

Where to Go and What to Do

Olite Castle, Navarre, Spain
Olite Castle is a military building chosen as the first wonder of medieval Spain.

The weather in November may not be ideal for outdoor activities, but there are still plenty of things to do in Spain at this time of the year. We suggest you book at least seven days in Spain to properly experience its culture and avoid rushing from one place to another.

The Canary Islands are one of the best places to visit in November. Here the average temperature is 19℃ with highs of 24℃. The water can be a tad chilly to swim in the ocean, but this could be your last chance to take a dip before winter arrives. However, the weather is sunny, allowing for an ideal condition to sunbathe and marvel at the breathtaking oceanic views.

November is also the perfect month to visit Madrid or go on a sightseeing tour of Barcelona. You can have a stroll through the El Retiro Park in Madrid and marvel at the beautiful foliage of its trees or taste Barcelona’s traditional autumn fare, foil-wrapped sweet potatoes, and delicious roasted chestnuts. These cities are also the perfect option for art lovers. You will be able to wander through the art pieces of the Museo del Prado, take a tour of Casa Milà, and marvel at cubism at the Picasso Museum.

Even though the weather in Spain in November is slightly cold with chances of rain, the weather is still warmer than in most other European cities. You can opt for a trip to the Canary Islands to soak up the sun before the winter months, visit famous cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, and marvel at their stunning art.
