Natural timber movement is not prevented since boards are free to expand and contract naturally and therefore splitting and gaps do not occur. Special ring shank nails (in stainless steel) prevent removal of cover strips and boards by vandalism. Standard detail drawing: “If timber is used for panels, the minimum design thickness should be based on the seasoned dry weight of the timber.
