The number "three" plays since the beginning of mankind an exceptional rôle in the observation of life and nature and in the conception of triadic divinities. Some interesting aspects – mainly of the antique Greek culture – are shown. Also the prehispanic Canary Islands are dealt with shortly. Effects can still be watched in our days regarding certain forms of superstition.

Peter Abaelards philosophisches Trinitätsargument als Ziel des unvollendeten Dialogus inter Philosophum, Iudaeum et Christianum: Ein Rekonstruktionsversuch2019 •
The open ending of Peter Abelard’s Dialogus inter Philosophum, Iudaeum et Christianum (alternatively Collationes) has surprised readers since the Middle Ages. While the traditional interpretation holds that the work is incomplete, the fragmentary character of the Dialogus has recently been contested. Abelard’s failure to fulfil his promise and deliver a final verdict regarding which of the three disputants has won is often construed as a deliberate decision to leave the question of truth open to interpretation. Against such claims, this paper argues that Abelard’s Dialogus does indeed remain unfinished and that many of the topics announced by the disputants, most importantly the definition of the highest good itself, are never satisfactorily developed. After summarizing the main arguments in the debate, a hypothetical reconstruction of the dialogue’s ending is developed from an analysis of the intentio operis itself, the testimony of medieval readers and other works of Abelard.

The mysterious Eunuch-Saying in Matthew 19:12 has triggered many reception processes from literal castration to sexual abstinence. By analysing the metaphor against the social background of eunuchs in the Ancient world the present article makes a strong claim for disconnecting this saying from the field of celibacy or sexual abstinence. Eunuchs were not considered sexually inactive or celibate. The main aspects which the metaphor transmits relate to slavery, unmanliness and a general inability to procreate. Furthermore, the literary context of the Matthean Jesus story suggests that self-castration for the sake of the Kingdom can be read as a metaphor for the social self-stigmatization which entails following Jesus.
The article explores the reception of the Council of Trent in the theological censuring which took place within the Roman Congregations of the Inquisition and the Index (ca. 1570-1600). Special attention is given to the problem of the relationship between episcopal authority (council) and centralised authority (Pope, Inquisition, Mendicant orders). The article uses materially my reconstruction of the cases of Contarini, Cajetan and Gropper (2008), but offers also some further clarifications, e.g. on the first Roman censure of Contarini's opera ("Zensur 1" in Arnold 2008), which appears to me now more clearly as a product of the Roman Inquisition and not of the Index.
