moreIn the Jujuy of the early twentieth century began to take notice of the housing problem as a
result of the population increase. The present work aims to contribute to the knowledge of
the variables that shaped the urban housing problem of San Salvador de Jujuy during the
years of the rise of radical governments. Likewise, we will analyze the social composition
of the workers, the spaces where and how they lived, their living conditions, (housing,
overcrowding and unhealthiness). Finally, we will analyze the progress and scope of
housing policies implemented by the governments in power.
The research is based on the use of a vast set of sources. The documental reservoirs
contained in the Official Archives of Jujuy: Historical Archive of the Province (AHPJ), of
the Provincial Legislature (ALP) where the sanctioned laws are found in relation to the
policies that the Government was taking with these social groups.
Valuable information also offer the periodicals contained in the Popular Library of Jujuy
(Hemeroteca Section) (BPJ). We will also incorporate the consultation of census sources that allow a more detailed and quantified analysis of the problem.
