moreThis article describes the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to support comprehensive disaster management (CDM) in the Caribbean Community region. An integrative model of ICT business value was used to investigate the relationship between ICT resources and contributions to CDM. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with managers of national disaster organizations (NDO) in 17 participating countries of the Caribbean region. Organizational documents were also reviewed. Conclusions include: (a) only a few NDOs articulated strategies for developing their ICT capabilities; (b) only a few countries engaged in a systematic planning for the effective use of ICT for CDM; and (c) several NDOs conceded that they were not fully utilizing the available ICT resources.
