Measurements of converter input and output impedances are conducted to verify that the power system has been correctly modeled and designed. Many impedance measurement setups presented in the past are useful for tutorial purposes, but in practice their application is limited to low-power supplies. This paper presents practical impedance measurement circuits, which provide reliable measurements for a wide class of power supplies. The measured impedance data was applied to stability analysis of the computer distributed power system

Rechargeable batteries have been more pervasively used as
the energy storage and power source for various electrical and electronic systems and devices, such as communication
systems, electronic devices, renewable power systems, electric vehicles, etc. However, the rechargeable batteries are
subjected to the availability of the external power source when it is drained out. Because of the concern of battery life,
environmental pollution and a possible energy crisis, the
renewable solar energy has received an increasing attention
in recent years. A fuzzy logic control based grid tied
uninterruptible power supply integrating renewable solar
energy can be used for electrical and electronic systems to
produce power generation. This paper presents the design and implementation of fuzzy logic control based grid tied
uninterruptible power supply integrating the renewable  solar power energy system. The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system is characterized by the rechargeable battery that is connected  with  the Photovoltaic Panel through the DC/DC converter,  the  utility AC through the AC/DC  converter  and the load is connected through the DC/AC converter. The whole operation is controlled by the fuzzy logic algorithm. A complete hardware prototype system model of the fuzzy logic control based  on the  grid tied uninterruptible power supply integrating with the  renewable solar energy is designed and implemented. The operation and effectiveness of the proposed system is  then  demonstrated by  the  actual and  real-time implementation of  the  fuzzy logic control grid tied operation 
uninterruptible power supply integrating renewable  solar
energy connected to the rechargeable battery bank and a PIC
microcontroller platform for fuzzy logic control and operation.

The purpose of the project was to design a high-power inverter to rival that of use in the market in terms of cost and efficiency. The efficiency was the key driving force in the project. The inverter consists of 3 stages: the boost stage, inverter stage, and filter/load stage. The boost stage consists of an isolated DC-DC converter which will take a low DC input supply and boost it to a regulated high DC output. (controlled by PWM signals). The inverter takes the high DC bus from the boost stage and inverts it to a chopped AC, which is filtered to output a pure sine wave. Load testing and efficiency calculations are done on the inverter.

The ANPC topology was developed to overcome the unequal power distribution among the semiconductors in NPC topology. By using an accurate switching model it's possible to adjust the thermal distribution between the semiconductors and increase the output power of the converter. This study focuses on the PWM-3 (fpwm = 350Hz), PWM-5 (fpwm = 550Hz), and PWM-7 (fpwm = 750Hz) and defines the optimum switching sequence for each frequency and specifies the maximum current rating of IGCT based ANPC converter for the mentioned optimum switching sequence.

Power supplies prepare for a power failure often apply converters in the input side, and use inverters in the output side. The input side and the output side of power supply are coupled by high frequency transformer. This method requires a transformer. Because the switch devices included in the power flow increase, the power conversion efficiency declines. Though, high frequency transformer-less circuits are proposed, these circuits often use voltage divide capacitors. And these schemes require the voltage balance control of the voltage divide capacitors. This paper mentions about the transformer-less uninterruptible power supply which can omit the voltage divide capacitors. Delta-sigma modulation technique is introduced to the power supply and the proposed scheme has output voltage regulation function. © 2013 IEEE.

The paper presents switching power supplies with MC34063 and muA78S40 monolithic switching regulator subsystems and DC-DC step-down converter. General description of MC34063 and muA78S40 operation modes, mathematical design and PSpice under ORCAD simulation of the whole switching power supply, a numerical example and the practical implementation are included. Some practical considerations are also presented.

An application-specific delay-line based windowed analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with programmable reference voltage, conversion time, and accuracy of voltage regulation, is introduced. The ADC can be fully implemented on a small silicon area and is suitable for implementation in various integrated digital controllers for high-frequency low-power switch-mode power supplies. The programmable characteristics are achieved through the utilization of the inherent averaging effect of the delay line and through the adjustments of delay cells' propagation times. The ADC is implemented in a standard 0.18 m CMOS technology, as a part of a high-frequency digital controller integrated circuit, and tested with a 1.5 MHz, 1 W buck dc-dc converter.

This paper describes the analysis and design of an LCL resonant power supply for ozone generation. The main advantage of the proposed topology is the absence of high-voltage transformer; the high voltage gain is achievable by means of double-resonance phenomena. Furthermore, the bandwidth is wider than the ordinary LC and its phase difference is constant over specific frequency range; as a result, an open-loop operation can be implemented. The complete analysis and design procedure of the power supply is presented. The design procedure is verified by implementing the power supply to drive a dielectric barrier discharge prototype ozone chamber. The hardware results are found to be in close agreement with simulation and thus justify the validity of the design procedures. The proposed circuit is suitable for portable ozone power supply fed by low-voltage source such as battery or photovoltaic module.

This paper describes the laser performance of an X-ray preionized  ten-liter volume, electron-avalanche discharge XeCl system, operated at dc charging voltages of up to 70 kV both with and without X-ray preionization. An output energy of more than 11J uniformly distributed over a (7×10) cm^2 spot size was achieved using a multichannel spark-gap as the main discharge switch. The discharge was also successfully operated in the switchless mode, yielding a 4.8 J output energy and a 0.9% efficiency. The time-resolved gain measurements provided information on the laser discharge evolution.
