Since the late nineteenth century, it has embodied the economic and technological power of nations, the lifestyle, the dynamics of urban and territorial development, and it has acted as a national barometer of economic success and failure. The introduction of English as 'high' language and the designs to reshape the 'native vernaculars' under its influence through colonial educational policy altered the universe of communicative and cultural practices on the subcontinent. The thesis focuses on the relationship between Sanskrit classical grammar, Ahludharma, and the debates between Madhyamaka and Yogacara. In particular, it shows how the karaka system, and the idea of laksana, influence philosophical argumentation in the context of medieval Indian Buddhist thought. The karaka system is the way in which classical Sanskrit grammarians discuss syntax, and in particular, actions and agency. Laksana means a defining trait, or a definition, at once a scholastic tool and a fundamental way to identify existent entities. There are five Chapters and two Appendices. Chapter One shows the close links between Sanskrit classical grammar and basic ideas in Buddhist thought, and isolates the karaka system as being most relevant in this regard. A branch of the Mangu jakids, a minor Turkish tribe, chose to settle in Divrigi and its area in central Anatolia, after the battle of Manzikert, 1071 A.D. where the Seljuq Alp Arslan defeated the Byzantine emperor Romanus Diogenes. Built on a hillside of local sandstone at a time of great prosperity, the Ulu Cami or Great Mosque and hospital now overlook the modern town. This thesis has three main foci. The first is an examination of the broader intentions behind the Government of India Act (1919) and the context of these reforms in the longer-term transfer of power in India. The second is the role played by the Indian Moderates within the nationalist movement leading to their defection from the Indian National Congress in 1918. Thirdly, it examines the relationship between the British rulers and the new Indian Liberal Party, both during the making of constitutional reforms and during the period of the first legislative councils elected under the reforms, 1921-23. The working of the reforms is examined from the perspective of both central and provincial legislative politics. The thesis contains six chapters; introduction, four chapters on selected works by four poets, and conclusion. The Arabic texts discussed are added as an appendix and numbered from I to XIX. Chapter One discusses the form and function of the panegyric qasida in the early Abbasid period. The organic unity of the individual poem is postulated in a structural model which serves as a working hypothesis for subsequent analyses. Chapters Two and Three contrast panegyrics by Buhturi (d. about 284 AH/897 AD) and Mihyar al-Daylami (d. 428 AH/ 1036 AD). Three poems by Buhturi are analysed with particular attention to the structural function of the initial section. This thesis details the establishment, organisation and development of Serowe from 1902 to 1972 and through the analysis of the nature of Serowe society seeks to show that Serowe represents a distinctive form of African urbanism. Chapter I reviews the nature of urban settlements. This work is a detailed study of the dynastic history of Bengal from the rise of the Palas down to the coming of the Muslims. We have divided it into three parts: the first dealing with the history of the Palas, the second devoted to the dynasties of South-Eastern Bengal and the third to the Senas and the Muslim invasion. The first part comprises three chapters. In the first chapter we have attempted a reassessment of the ascendency of the Palas. It covers the reigns of the first three rulers. The aim of thesis is to describe and analyse the main elements of the post- Soviet chaos (bardak) in Almaty, Kazakhstan. My focus is the ways in which the dispossessed people understand and react to what they term 'chaos' and their own dispossession and the variety of coping strategies they have adopted to survive in the new, harsh economic and political environment. My account draws on 15 months 'multi-site' ethnographic fieldwork in Almaty from July 1995 to Oct 1996. What dispossessed describe as 'chaos' are the circumstances of their plunder: a situation which they think has been deliberately created by members of the former Soviet elite and a variety of Westerners. It is, I argue, a situation created and exploited by the Kazakhstan state official and others, locally known as 'the mafia' (mafiia) as part of their response to the collapse of the USSR, and the new liberal economic policies associated with the new style of 'global capitalism'....

What that mathematics says is that it is impossible for a particle with a real,
(classical) nonzero rest mass to be accelerated from less than c to c or faster
than c. To do so would require infinite energy and infinite force. This is not
some sort of practical obstacle that could be overcome. It is a mathematical impossibility.

the volume decreases 1/273. And when the temperature reaches -273 degrees
the volume of the particle  disappears and the particle  becomes a flat figure.
From all flat figures the circle (membrane) has the most optimal form

The Charles law  was confirmed by other physicists: Gay-Lussac,
Planck, Nernst, Einstein.
b) - The vacuum (as a whole) is homogenous, isotopic, smooth (flat)
and very cold (the temperature is about zero).  Then, there is possibility

SynFace is a lip-synchronized talking agent which is optimized as a visual reading support for the hearing impaired. In this paper we present the large scale hearing impaired user studies carried out for three languages in the Hearing at Home project. The user tests focus on measuring the gain in Speech Reception Threshold in Noise and the effort scaling when using SynFace by hearing impaired people, where groups of hearing impaired subjects with different impairment levels from mild to severe and cochlear implants are tested. Preliminary analysis of the results does not show significant gain in SRT or in effort scaling. But looking at large cross-subject variability in both tests, it is clear that many subjects benefit from SynFace especially with speech with stereo babble.
