Plato's report of the Legend of Atlantis is an early oral tradition that represents the 13k event.  As noted by Ignatius Donnelly in 1882, the description of this island given by Plato is not, as has been long supposed, fable, but veritable history.  We submit that the location of Atlantis is Rockall Plateau.

Scientists have been exploring several possible locations for Atlantis, which is, according to Plato, »the island beyond the pillars of Hercules«: Malta, Cuba, the Bahamas, Santorini etc. At he moment, they arestudying the theory regarding the original location of the Pillars of Hercules which allows for the possibility that Atlantis was located in today's South Adriatic Basin. Atlantis was an ancient kingdom, a state with a perfect social system, the cradle of civilization, an island »beyond the pillars of Hercules«. This is what Plato, a classical Greek philosopher, wrote about Atlantis in his dialogues »Timaeus« and »Critias« in about 350 BC. Critias, who was a Greek politician and writer, relates in his papers on the state, law and justice that in 571 BC Athenian statesman Solon visited Egypt and met with priests in the town of Sais where he was told a story about »an island named Atlantis, the heart of a great and wonderful kingdom«. Plato wrote that »there occurred violent earthquakes and floods; and in a single day and night of misfortune all your warlike men in a body sank in the earth, and the island of Atlantis in like manner disappeared in the depths of the sea«. There are numerous ancient accounts of the catastrophe of such extent. Even though they are dominated by mythical themes, the narrations contain convincing descriptions of the sinking which can be analyzed and confirmed scientifically. Up until 250 BC Greek writers placed the Pillars of Hercules near Sicily. After subsequent discoveries of new territories the mythological sites moved away and were placed on the fringes of the then known world. Just a few weeks ago, a promotional campaign for a new Italo-British produced documentary was launched under the title: ATLANTICA. In the press release presented in all media by the British company Merlin Burrows and the producer Indigo Films it is noted, with neither hesitation nor ambiguity, that the team that took part in the production of this documentary has already located Atlantis, as described by Plato, just South of Spain, more precisely, at the Doñana marshes.

Astonishing statements in the press release –and consistent with what can be seen in the documentary trailer– include the discovering –for the first time in history– of long walls from Atlantis, ruins of the Temple of Poseidon itself, and many circles at the marshes that are considered to be traces from the islands where Atlantis’ cities –concentric and pyramidal, according to the farfetched reenactment in the documentary– were raised.

Celem pracy jest omówienie problematyki związanej z synkretyzmem religijnym w wybranych dziełach literatury chrześcijańskiej, hermetycznej i greckich papirusach magicznych. Analizie poddane zostały zwłaszcza teksty związane z hermeneutyką demonologii i angelarium, pseudoepigrafy o charakterze eschatologicznym, a także greckie traktaty magiczne. Podstawowe pytanie, jakie stawiam, odnosi się do elementu doktrynalnego religii: w jaki sposób synkretyzm może pomóc określić naturę zła oraz bytów złośliwych? Całość została osadzona w ramach religioznawczych, którego jednymi z głównych zadań są: egzegeza, ukazanie podobieństw pomiędzy doktrynami religijnymi oraz krytyczna analiza porównawcza omawianych tekstów.

Religious Syncretism in Christian and Hermetic texts and in the Papyri Graecae Magicae by the example of the Problem of the Origin of Evil

The purpose of the work is to discuss the problem of the relationship with religious syncretism in selected works of Christian and Hermetic literature and Greek magical papyri. The main subjects analyzed were texts related to hermeneutics of demonology and angelarium, pseudepigrapha and eschatological features as well as the Greek magic treatises. The basic question to guide the strategies taken is: how can syncretism help us to understand evil and malicious entities? The whole was embedded within the cross-section of religion, that some of the main tasks are: exegesis, showing similarities between religious doctrines and critical comparative analysis of the discussed texts.

The Legend of Atlantis has always been a story of wonder; the tragedy of a utopia destroyed in a single night. The idea of this ‘fable’ has enthralled many, and so there arises a debate as old as the legend itself, about whether the composer Ancient Greek philosopher Plato, created a cautionary tale about the consequences of man’s hubris, or was recording the actual events of a spectacular and advanced civilisation of Atlantis being destroyed by what he seems to be describing as a cataclysmic volcanic eruption. At first I was comparing the perspectives academics had on the location of Atlantis, but could not find the amount of evidence I needed to support my historical investigation. Instead I moved towards forming an analysis of the legend itself, and therefore examining many debates surrounding the validity of his words. The most interesting aspect of his legend is the exciting prospect that Atlantis may actually have once existed. Many historians and scientists are analysing and examining many places around the world for the lost island, and the research I have done on this idea has highlighted the Minoan society on Crete, and most predominately the Theran civilisation on modern day Santorini, as a suspect for the long lost city of Atlantis. Many academics have contributed to the historical debates surrounding Plato’s allegory and have put forth enthralling theses that either strongly proves or disproves the veracity of the legend, which I have examined closely as my historical investigation.

In the history of literature, few stories have received as much attention as the astonishing story of Atlantis. Books on the subject runs into the thousands. Since Plato explicitly tells us the Atlantis story is “true,” the “general reader” assumes it to be so. On the other hand, the vast majority of classical scholars take the story to be what Plato explicitly denies it to be: invented myth.  There have been, of course, attempts to describe the character of the story as “intermediate” between the first two, i.e., a “likely story,” or as a “synthesis” of them, i.e., a myth written in the form of a history.

The most convincing exposition, in my view, of the Atlantis myth is by the French scholar Pierre Vidal-Naquet.  But, at the end of his analysis, Vidal-Naquet compares Plato’s story to a game – a game that was not “serious” because for Plato history always and inevitably takes the form of a progressive degeneration, so that humanity cannot escape its destiny. In this paper I hope to show that Plato’s philosophy of history is not negative but positive, for it contains the solution to humanity’s future well being both on earth and in the afterlife. I begin --to avoid bias—by presenting the main argument of those who uphold the historical existence of Atlantis. Second, I explain how, where and why the Atlantis story is introduced in Plato’s Timaeus, as well as discussing its relation to the Republic. Third, I expound Vidal-Naquet’s thesis, which is the most convincing interpretation to date and accords with much of what I have to say on the subject. Fourth, I endeavour to show how all this fits in with Plato’s new philosophy of history – a philosophy closely connected with his own historia peri phuseos, i.e., an inquiry into the origin and evolution of the present order of things.  Finally, I give a brief analysis of Plato’s theory of the mixed constitution and how such a constitution would prevent the destruction of contemporary Athens or any other state.

Nel 1841, nelle sue celebri "Études sur le Timée de Platon", il primo commento scientifico al complesso dialogo platonico, Thomas-Henri Martin pubblicava una lunga "Dissertation sur l’Atlantide", una rassegna di tutte le storie e le infinite ipotesi legate al continente scomparso. Con un linguaggio lineare e netto, che rivela a ogni pagina le vaste e profonde conoscenze dello studioso, la "Dissertation" riconduce l’Atlantide di Platone al luogo suo proprio, riposizionandola in un complesso e suggestivo palcoscenico mitico.

This article was published in C&C Review in 2017 to summarize and update the authors work on Atlantis and the case for a mid-Neolithic catastrophic event that is suggested by a pattern of cross-disciplinary sources. The author's method is to seek evidence in myths, legends and historical sources that can be cross-checked against current science.

In 2003, my book, Atlantis of the West – the Case for Britain’s Drowned Megalithic Civilization, was published. It was actually a second edition of The Atlantis Researches,
published in 1995. The new name was chosen by the publishers as they thought it might sell more copies in UK and USA, but the original subtitle: “The Earth’s Rotation in Mythology and Prehistory”, gives a better idea of what it was really about. In 2005, my follow-up: Under Ancient Skies, was published [1]. This is perhaps less well-known than its predecessors but, in many ways I was happier with its content. In the same year, I gave a talk at the SIS Autumn meeting on the subject of catastrophism around 3100 BC, its causes and effects [2]. This short article is a summary of that presentation.

I have been asked these questions many times. As a matter of fact, they are the most frequently asked questions – alongside with the location of Atlantis- for the last two decades, since I started publishing my investigation about Atlantis.

After all the evidence I have been able to gather over these years (epigraphic and paleographic evidence (written primary sources) and seismological evidence (new findings about seismic tsunamis around the Atlantic area and Gulf of Cadiz)), my most updated and rigorous reply – up to this very moment- is that the end of Atlantis, that is, when it was destroyed by a great seismic-tsunami cataclysm must have happened at some point between 2600 and 1550 BC (and it had nothing to do with volcanoes, as the reading of primary sources made clear). This is the most accurate time frame that I have been able to establish, according to the existing evidence and circumstantial proof. Atlantis timeline can be summarized as follows:

In 9577 BC, at the spring equinox in the southern hemisphere, planet Nibiru flew past Earth and unleashed a satellite, whose impact sank Atlantis west of Eire. At the same time, this or a separate strike caused Earth’s apparent axis of rotation to begin to flip. This second satellite was at least 1/2 km in diameter and struck obliquely, possibly between Antarctica and New Zealand, whose facing coast suffered massive flooding. Other satellites struck Karelia near Finland and the north coast of Alaska. The Karelian strike ablated the Scandinavian Ice Sheet and melted enough ice to raise sea level by 3 meters.
From the perspective of Earth, the poles soon swapped position, accomplished by the seas moving one way toward a new pole, and Earth rotating in the opposite direction to conserve angular momentum. When the seas settled down, the axis of Earth still pointed at the North Star and the equatorial bulge remained at the equator, but the northern hemisphere had changed places with the southern hemisphere. In this way, England, which was located in the southern hemisphere, experienced the flyby in the spring when many animals had just given birth.
The combination of Atlantis sinking, the pole shift and multiple satellite strikes created tsunamis in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The Atlantic tsunami packed great numbers of young animals into sea caves along the Atlantic coast of Britain.
After a great flood that lasted one day, ancestors of Toltecs in Mexico observed a new sun that rose in the opposite direction. Ancestors of Egyptians devised a new calendar that began in 9497 BC. Preserved on the ceiling of Senenmut’s Tomb, this calendar marks time in 20-year increments with a five-pointed star that represents each passage of Nibiru. Nibiru, the fifth body from the Sun, was likened to a sun because of its great outpouring of heat and light. During each flyby, Earth suffered from its tremendous heat.
Four stars and one year later, in 9416 BC, Nibiru crippled Mut (‘Mother’, Tiamat) by bombarding her with debris called ‘spears’ and a moon, according to two Sumerian sources. At the same time, Nibiru acquired Tiamat’s largest moon, named Kingu on a clay tablet and Hand of Mother on a cylinder seal.
One star later, in 9417 BC, Nibiru flew past Earth and lost its newly acquired moon, which became our present Moon, in a lower orbit. A year later, it passed even closer to Tiamat and flung one of its remaining big moons directly into her bowels. This impact plus its greater gravity caused the mother planet to explode. An Egyptian calendar in Senemet’s Tomb noted the ascendency of planet Aset (Nibiru) to the ruling throne of the planets, symbolized with a throne that it retained until death.
An expanding shell of fragments from Tiamat bombarded Earth. As Earth rotated, its population experienced half a day of incessant strikes, half a day of calm. For protection, survivors built tunnels and underground cities. Fragments and dust surrounded the Sun and blocked its rays.
For the next 220 years, each passage of Nibiru bombarded Earth with fiery hailstones. The Egyptian calendar marked each passage with a star but no other description.
Two Sumerian accounts exist, one written in cuneiform on clay tablets, the other in Old European on cylinder seal VA-243. The latter calls Tiamat Äiti meaning ‘Mother’, Nibiru Sää meaning ‘Storm’, Earth Maa meaning ‘Earth’, and Moon Kuu meaning ‘Moon’, plus many epithets including ‘Hand of Mother’.
In 6937 BC, its last flyby past Earth, Nibiru flung Mars out of its tenuous orbit around Earth into a two-year elliptical orbit around the Sun. This interaction altered its course just enough that Nibiru hit Jupiter dead center. The Egyptian calendar pictures the plunge of Aset (Nibiru) into Jupiter circa 6935 BC. Numerous sources relate the expulsion of part of its rocky core on the opposite side to become Venus. The impact triggered a momentous nuclear explosion of heavy hydrogen that blew out the impact site on Jupiter, drawn as a sequence of ever-expanding bulges during the next three days. The impact site became the Red Spot, whose roots extend to Jupiter’s core.

In the 84 page Pearlman YeC volume 5, we conclude Abraham is the true Atlas.
That Atlantis was based on Sodom, Dead sea, Jordan Valley and Land of Israel.
We correct the history books on chronology and even some relative dating.
