In this paper, the performance of different web servers in Network Load Balancing (NLB), cluster-based and none clustered are analyzed. Furthermore, we evaluate the impact of TCP SYN flood attack with massive concurrent HTTP load traffic on web server’s average response time, throughput and average CPU usage. Nowadays, continuously accessing Internet services is vital for the most of people. However, due to Denial of Service (DoS) and its severe type ‘Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), online services becomes unavailable to users in sometimes. Rather than DDoS is dangerous and has serious impact on the Internet consumers, there are multiple types of that attack such Slowrise, ping of death and UDP, ICMP, SYN flood, etc. In this paper, the effect of HTTP and SYN flood attack on the most recent and widely used web servers is studied and evaluated. Systematic performance analysis is performed on Internet Information Service 10.0 (IIS 10.0) on Windows server 2016 and Apache 2 on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 Long Term Support (LTS) server. Furthermore, the key metrics of the performance are average response time, average CPU usage and standard deviation as a responsiveness, efficiency and stability of the web servers. The results show that the IIS10.0 outperformed Apache2 web server in efficiency and responsiveness during HTTP flood attack. However, Apache2 web server achievement was more responsive and performed more stability with SYN flood attack.

We propose a log-based analysis tool for evaluating web application computer system. A feature of the tool is an integration software log with infrastructure log. Software engineers alone can resolve system faults in the tool, even if the faults are complicated by both software problems and infrastructure problems. The tool consists of 5 steps: preparation software, preparation infrastructure, collecting logs, replaying the log data, and tracing the log data. The tool was applied to a simple web application system in a small-scale local area network. We confirmed usefulness of the tool when a software engineer detects faults of the system failures such as " 404 " and " no response " errors. In addition, the tool was partially applied to a real large-scale computer system with many web applications and large network environment. Using the replaying and the tracing in the tool, we found causes of a real authentication error. The causes were combined an infrastructure problem with a software problem. Even if the failure is caused by not only a software problem but also an infrastructure problem, we confirmed that software engineers alone could distinguish between a software problem and an infrastructure problem using the tool.

Each function intended to provide easy access to information from which users could manage schedules, organize data, and manage time better. This was aided by the reminder and email generation functions which generated files which could be imported into the standard departmental email, Outlook. The database was implemented using an SQL database server and an Apache web server. Functions were performed using PHP scripts and the user interacted with a user-friendly interface with a navigational menu. The final system performed well especially in error detection and speed of displayed results."

SQL query has limited scalability in Flink, so more efficient SQL-to-Flink translator is developed to optimize complex SQL queries called, " An optimized SQL Query Translator in Flink " built on top of Flink without effect on the structure of Flink. In recent, the high available internet service is the main demand of most people. However, online services occasionally become inaccessible due to various threats and attacks. Synchronization (SYN) flood distributed denial of service (DDoS) is the most used and has a serious effect on public network services. Hence, the outcome of this attack on the commonly utilized cluster-based web servers is systematically illustrated in this paper. Moreover, the performance of Internet Information Service 10.0 (IIS 10.0) on Windows server 2016 and Apache 2 on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 server is evaluated efficiently. The performance measuring process is done on both network load balancing (NLB) and high available proxy (HAProxy) in Windows and Linux environments respectively as methods for web server load balancing. Furthermore, the stability, efficiency, and responsiveness of the web servers are depended on the study evaluation metrics. Additionally, average CPU usage and throughput of both mechanisms are measured in the proposed system. The results show that the IIS 10.0 cluster-based web servers are more responsiveness, efficiency and stable with and without SYN flood DDoS attack. Also, the performance of the IIS 10.0 web server is better than of Apache 2 in terms of the average CPU usage and throughput.
