Nice. Probably French, or at least European with those trombone clasps. I think 1950s rather than Art Deco.

I agree, nice mid century costume pieces, not Art Deco.

    Costume? Sure?:cyclops:
I see mid century too but fine jewellery (only a doubt on first one):)
A bunch of diamonds in #2,:bucktooth:, need to be tested by a jeweler!

A jeweler has examined these brooches, that was some years ago, but I remember that all brooches are made with gold (yellow or white), reals diamonds and sapphires.

I'm always sorry for my english, I mean it's very approximative language :)

And thank u all for your interest !

I want to know if I can tell it's "art deco" brooches, when I'm ok to sell it :)

If it's not "Art Deco", I mean I just can sell it for the weight of the gold, and for the diamonds, but not for the jewelery's work.

Ahh! I knew they weren't costume jewellery!:pompous::joyful: Nice pieces!

To sell by gold weight and diamonds carats you will need to have certitude of the gold fineness... 18 Carat or 14 Carat, size of stones, if they are internally clean...

Your English is perfect (I'm French too!;):joyful:)

Don't use the term Art Deco in your description to sell them!
They are 1950/1960s, so VINTAGE mid century is appropriate.:)

Le style Art Deco est géométrique, avec des couleurs tranchées...

Beautiful brooches, Phelim, very nice quality, and I agree with the others, mid-century.
You can't sell them as Art Deco brooches, these are a different period and a very different style. The style of all of them is later, 1950s-60s, firmly mid-century. Also not mcm, please, this is a more general mid-century style.;)

Edit: I was typing away when our kyra posted. So this post is superfluous, but does confirm what the others said.:shame:

If I were you, I would try to sell them with their true identity, as described by @kyratango and @Any Jewelry before sending them to be melted. I think they are quite pretty, and would hate to see this jeweler's creative vision go away without a fight.

Totally agree! I think (hope...) Phelim was thinking about fixing the price to sell or reserve price on the scrap value, not send them to melt:rolleyes:

Agree, maybe Phelim thought they wouldn't be worth more than scrap value if they weren't Art Deco. But the thing is, mid-century jewellery is becoming more popular, and these are beautiful examples of the jeweler's craft of the period.

@kyratango , I think we have been doing Phelim's thinking without thinking to ask what Phelim thinks.:hilarious:

Kyra. Thanks so much for this. Since I don't sell jewelry, I didn't have this concept in my mind. Kiko
