Vesselin Velichkov is a postdoctoral researcher at the LACS (Laboratory of Algorithms, Cryptology and Security) in the FSTC (Faculty of Sciences, Technology and Communication) of the University of Luxembourg. He received his M.Sc. degree in Communication Engineering from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria in 2002 and his Ph.D. in Cryptography from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium in 2012.

His research focuses on techniques for cryptanalysis of symmetric-key cryptographic algorithms. He is particularly interested in algorithms based on the operations addition, rotation and xor (ARX). Vesselin is also interested in applied aspects of computer and network security.
