I am at your service to help you to reach your goals. I have 29 years experience in chess teaching. I started to teach online 23 years ago in 2001 and I was one of the first online chess coaches. Philosophy of a chess lesson: – Improve your chess understanding. – Create an opening repertoire working with you step by step. – Build up your endgame knowledge. – Find the right plans in the middlegame by studying typical patterns. – Strengthen your tactical awareness. I think it is important to have a balance of studying new ideas and getting feedback by analyzing your games. I like to offer supporting materials and homew...

My name is Samuel Lopes de Carvalho do Prado Zurita. I am 13 years old, and I love playing chess and I hope to improve more and more. I like France, Spain, United States and Brazil. Not only that, but I have never played in an official championship or tournament. But I intend to play one day.I started playing chess for real when one day my father bought a book called ''Xadrez Básico'' and I fell in love with the book and never stopped reading it. This book was essential for my journey in chess. I also make blogs, to help people to improve in chess, you want to improve? See my blogs! For me, my best game is this one: My favorite friends: @Davi_Benjamim @TheChristanChessian @mmndsv @CaueTheLastBR @TheBestMeat1 @PauloBigHouse @Rmilao1987 @Bernardosilva1 Of the best players...
I was born in 1960 - the year a young Mikhail Tal became World Champion. After leaving the British junior chess circuit I started working unusual hours and have done ever since. For that reason I had very little chance to play chess as an adult, and instead bought chess books. At least 1000 have passed through my hands, and I have gone over at least 50,000 Master level games. I am fascinated by chess as an evolutionary process, and have been writing about chess history since the days when I had to type up articles on a stencil for a 'duplicating machine'. There is a saying :- 'No-one is entitled to an opinion. Everyone is entitled to an informed opinion. Who would say that they are entitled to ignorance.' Sometimes things that ' everybody knows' are not true. All chess players are my f...
I am a New York-based writer, documentary producer, and chess expert (USCF rating ~2060). My insane obsessive hobby for a long time has been to play through old chess games, more or less in chronological order. I am interested in the evolution of chess and looking to follow various ideas as they develop over time, but most of all, I am interested in the players and in treating them sort of the way an art survey book would treat artists. The theory is that each top player – to consistently defeat other grandmasters – has to bring something new to the game, has to have a philosophy of chess that sets them apart. I am thrilled to share that there is now a book version of the blog available at Amazon.com. For non-chess-writing (if there really is such a thi...

I was 4. My father came to me, bent down, looked deep into my eyes, gave me a toy gun (my first one), and told me, “You’re a big boy now; take care of our family.” I didn’t see him for two years. He left for the war. I was six when he returned. (I didn’t recognize him initially due to his beard)He was surprised to see I knew how to play chess. My Grandma had taught me. Long story short, he took me to a chess school. I got badly beaten in my first game, got angry, and started to train… Long story even shorter, I became a Grandmaster at 19. Then crossed 2,600. Then got very close to breaking into the top 100 players in the world. But then… I fell in love. Not with a person. I fell in love with chess coaching. I began assisting and instructing other passionate chess players. When...
