Dr. MLK Jr. Day Lecture Series 50th Anniversary Celebration

The Cambridge Public Library celebrates the 50th year of our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Lecture Series with festivities for all. Lady Lee and the New Awakenings Band bring the fun and the tunes to the Central Square Branch's Lewis Room - the original location of the lecture series. Check out the Central Square Branch's Black Voices Collection, learn the history of the MLK, Jr. Day Lecture Series, and help us celebrate this iconic milestone! Refreshments will be provided. Registration is preferred but not required.

50th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Lecture with Reginald Dwayne Betts (Main/Virtual)

Join the Cambridge Public Library in welcoming Reginald Dwayne Betts—poet, lawyer, and Executive Director of the nonprofit Freedom Reads—for a lecture celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Reginald Dwayne Betts is the founder and director of the Freedom Reads. A poet and lawyer, he is the author of four books. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow, his latest collection of poetry, Felon, was awarded the American Book Award and an NAACP Image Award. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School. This event is sponsored by the Office of Mayor E. Denise Simmons, the City Manager's Office, Cambridge Public Library, Cambridge Public Library Foundatio, and MBK Cambridge. Registration is required for in-person and virtual attendance.

  • Shapes Story Time and Craft (O'Neill)

    We invite children of all ages and their grown-ups to join us for stories and a simple art activity. This month our activity will focus on shapes!

  • Sing-Along (Valente)

    Put on your dancing shoes and join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, movement, and dancing! This event is for children and their grown-ups. This program will take place in the Community Room. No registration is required. For more information, please call the library at (617) 349-4015.

  • Toddler Story Time (Main)

    We invite children and their caregivers for 20-25 minutes of stories and songs. Designed for children 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers. This program can accommodate 45 people. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly. Unclaimed seats will be offered to someone waiting. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please call 617-349-4038 for more information.     Learn how to use our Epilog Zing—an industry-standard laser-cutting machine. Complete this workshop to earn a badge for the Zing laser cutter. With a badge, you can reserve the Epilog Zing to use on our equipment booking page at designated times. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this program.     Looking for some basic computer or mobile device guidance? Want help using an online resource? Need someone to read your resume and support navigating online job applications?
