Rehearsal in educational psychology refers to the "cognitive process in which information is repeated over and over as a possible way of learning and remembering it".

A person can do this by saying aloud or thinking of material repeatably until it becomes a part of the working memory. However the material may fade from the working memory quickly. This is a common form of rote learning. Rote learning is learning or memorization by repetition, often without an understanding of the reasoning or relationships involved in the material that is learned. However, the material may register eventually and take large amounts of time and hard work. Rehearsal is viewed in educational psychology as an ineffective way of getting information to the long-term memory.

Case Study

In the study of "The Effects of Elaboration and Rehearsal on Long-Term Retention of Shape Names by Kindergarteners", the two promising instructional paradigms, elaboration and overt rehearsal were put to test. Elaboration strategies include paraphrasing or summarizing the material to be learned, creating analogies, generative note-taking (where the student actually reorganizes and connects ideas in their notes in contrast to passive, linear note-taking), explaining the ideas in the material to be learned to someone else, and question asking and answering.

Educational psychology is the branch of psychology concerned with the scientific study of human learning. The study of learning processes, from both cognitive and behavioral perspectives, allows researchers to understand individual differences in intelligence, cognitive development, affect, motivation, self-regulation, and self-concept, as well as their role in learning. Educational psychology can in part be understood through its relationship with other disciplines. It is informed primarily by psychology, bearing a relationship to that discipline analogous to the relationship between medicine and biology. It is also informed by neuroscience. Educational psychology in turn informs a wide range of specialities within educational studies, including instructional design, educational technology, curriculum development, organizational learning, special education and classroom management. Educational psychology both draws from and contributes to cognitive science and the learning sciences. In universities, departments of educational psychology are usually housed within faculties of education, possibly accounting for the lack of representation of educational psychology content in introductory psychology textbooks.

A rehearsal is an event that occurs as preparation for a performance. It is undertaken as a form of practising, to ensure that all details of the subsequent performance are adequately prepared and coordinated. Most commonly employed in the performing arts as preparation for a public presentation, rehearsals are nevertheless used in other contexts, as well, to prepare for the performance of any anticipated activity.

Dress rehearsal

The dress rehearsal is a full-scale rehearsal where performers work out every detail of the performance. For theatre, cast members wear their costumes, and the backdrop may be used with props. For a musical performance, the dress rehearsal is the final rehearsal before the performance.

In a theatre or opera house

In theatre, a performing arts ensemble rehearses a work in preparation for performance before an audience. Rehearsals that occur early in the production process are sometimes referred to as run-throughs. Typically a run-through does not contain many of the technical aspects of a performance, and is primarily used to assist performers in learning dialogue and to solidify aspects of blocking and stage movement.

The film was shot "in a lovely old theatre in downtown Los Angeles" though set in London.

The film had its world premiere at the Whistler Film Festival as part of a tribute to Greenwood, who received a career achievement award.
