The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Taylor is most famous for his work with the neo-psychedelic rock band, The Brian Jonestown Massacre. He was an original member and contributed as a guitarist throughout the band's early career.

Taylor was featured in the Ondi Timoner documentary movie DiG!. Dean Taylor, along with Joel Gion, Matt Hollywood, Dave Deresinski and Miranda Lee Richards provide additional commentary on disc one of the DVD DiG!.

Taylor later left the project permanently in 1999.

The Mandarins/Tokyo Raid

Taylor contributed to the San Francisco-based indie/shoegaze/neo-psychedelic rock band, The Mandarins. The group was formed in early November, 2004 by guitarist Ben Utah. Taylor was active with the band in 2006-2007. In 2008, the band changed its name to Tokyo Raid.

Dean Taylor (born April 19, 1951 in Brawley, California) is a retired front office executive in Major League Baseball who most recently served as the Vice President of Baseball Operations/Assistant General Manager for the Kansas City Royals.

Taylor began his major league front office career in 1981, working as the Administrative Assistant of Minor League Operations for Kansas City. Prior to that, he was a general manager for four years in the minor leagues. From 1982 to 1985, he was Assistant Director of Scouting and Player Development for the Royals. He served as Assistant to the General Manager of the Royals from 1986 until early 1990. In 1990, he was named as Manager of Baseball Operations for the Major League Baseball Commissioner's Office. In 1991, he became the Assistant General Manager of the Atlanta Braves and contributed to eight consecutive National League Eastern Division titles and the 1995 World Series Championship. On September 21, 1999, he was hired as the Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, a position he held until September 2002. He spent the 2003 season as a consultant for the Los Angeles Dodgers before being named as Assistant General Manager of the Cincinnati Reds in December of that year. In June 2006, he was selected to serve as Vice President of Baseball Operations/Assistant General Manager for the Kansas City Royals. The Royals announced his retirement from baseball in January 2015, but he continued to serve the Royals as a consultant through the conclusion of the 2015 World Series. He was a member of the MLB Safety and Health Advisory Committee and served as Chairman of the MLB Rules and Administration Committee during his tenure as the Brewers' general manager.

R. Dean Taylor (born Richard Dean Taylor, 11 May 1939 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian singer, most notable as a recording artist, songwriter and record producer for Motown during the 1960s and 1970s. According to Jason Ankeny, Taylor "remains one of the most underrated acts ever to record under the Motown aegis."

As a singer, American audiences know Taylor best for his chart-topping 1970 hit "Indiana Wants Me", which hit No. 1 in Cash Box in the United States and was also #1 in Canada and #2 in the UK. It peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was featured in the opening minutes of the 1980 American movie, The Ninth Configuration. He is also well known in the United Kingdom for his other hits, "Gotta See Jane" and "There's a Ghost in My House".

Biography

Taylor began his career in 1961, as a pianist and singer with several music bands in Toronto. He also made his first recordings in 1961, for the Audiomaster record label. The next year, Taylor's "At The High School Dance", a single for Amy-Mala Records, was a minor success. His next single, "I'll Remember", on the Barry label, was a No. 23 success for Toronto rock and roll radio station CHUM, and the singer decided to relocate to Detroit, Michigan to further his career.
