"Someone to Love" is the first single from the album Traffic and Weather by Fountains of Wayne. It was released February 13, 2007. The song tells the story of two lonely New Yorkers, lawyer Seth Shapiro and graphic artist Beth McKenzie. It seems to hint that they may find each other, but in the last verse McKenzie cuts off Shapiro as he tries to hail a taxi, leaving him alone on the curb.
Music video
The music video for the single is directed by Adam Neustadter and stars comedian Demetri Martin and actress Faryl Amadeus in the respective song character roles of Seth Shapiro and Beth McKenzie.
Guest appearances
The track includes backing vocals from Smashing Pumpkins and Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur.

Plot
The film is a pseudo documentary about a filmmaker who throws a Valentine's Day party at an old theater that is about to be demolished. The filmmaker invites numerous single friends, including his brother, the real estate agent who sold the theater to a developer who is going to build a modern shopping mall, to the party and then quizzes them on camera about their lives, failed relationships, intimacy issues, and loneliness.
