County Road 55 (Norwegian: Fylkesvei 55) is a 248.1-kilometer (154.2 mi) long highway which runs between Lom and Høyanger in Norway. The 108-kilometer (67 mi) section across Sognefjellet, known as Sognefjellsvegen, is designated a National Tourist Route. Also a short section at Balestrand is a National Tourist Route. The road reaches the highest altitude on the public road network in Norway, 1434 m, and it is closed every winter. Prior to 2010, the road was part of National Road 55 (Norwegian: Riksvei 55). The road has importance as part of the shortest route between Trondheim and Bergen, 636 km, including a ferry. Usually a faster route is used, like those including road 51 (663 km, also closed in winter, no ferry), road 15 (701 km, one ferry, used by express buses) or E39 (671 km, four ferries).

A Norwegian county road (Bokmål: Fylkesvei or Nynorsk: Fylkesveg) is a highway in Norway that is owned and maintained by the local county municipality. Some of the roads have road signs. The signs are white with black numbers.
In 1931, a system of national roads (Riksvei), county roads (Fylkesvei), and municipal roads (kommunal vei) was established. In 2009, there were a total of 27,262 kilometres (16,940 mi) of county roads in Norway. This accounted for 29.2% of the 93,247 kilometres (57,941 mi) public roads in Norway. On 1 January 2010, most national roads that were not trunk roads (Stamvei) were transferred to the counties and therefore became county roads. On that date 17,200 kilometres (10,700 mi) of highway and 78 kilometres (48 mi) of ferry travel was transferred to the counties, at a compensation of NOK 6.9 billion. After the transfer, counties had about 44,000 kilometres (27,000 mi) of roads and the state had about 10,000 kilometres (6,200 mi) of its road network. After the reform came into force, there are two types of county roads in Norway—the original county roads that were not signposted and the new county roads that are numbered (the former national roads).
County Road 82 (Norwegian: Fylkesvei 82) runs between the village of Fiskebøl (in Hadsel) and the town of Andenes (in Andøy) in Nordland county, Norway. The road runs through the municipalities of Hadsel, Sortland, and Andøy. At Fiskebøl, the road intersects with the European route E10 highway before crossing the Hadselfjorden on the Fiskebøl–Melbu Ferry. Bridges on the road include Andøy Bridge, Hadsel Bridge, Sortland Bridge, and Børøy Bridge. Two sections are designated as part of two National Tourist Routes in Norway: the section from the intersection with E10 to Fiskebøl is part of Lofoten National Tourist Route, and the section through Andenes is part of Andenes National Tourist Route. During summer, the Andenes–Gryllefjord Ferry connects to County Road 86 at Gryllefjord on the island of Senja. Before 1 January 2010, the road was called National Road 82 (Norwegian: Riksvei 82), but due to reforms that went into effect on that day, the county took over the ownership and maintenance of the road.
County Road 13 (Norwegian: Fylkesvei 13) runs between the village of Dragsvik in Balestrand municipality and the village of Moskog in Førde municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. Until 2010 the 80-kilometre (50 mi) long road was part of National Road 13 but administrative reforms passed this part of the road to the county. County Road 13 and a short section of County Road 55 are designated as one of eighteen National Tourist Routes in Norway. The road crosses the Gaularfjellet mountains.

Working out my time, on that ol' County Road
So much on my mind, that it?s ready to explode
I never got a chance to explain the things I did
I know I never will, they?ll just work me till I?m dead
I got twenty-seven years till I can go
And as long as I am here, my Lord
The only thing I know is that County Road
The sun don?t seem to shine on that ol' County Road
They will beat you till you're blind as you stagger with the load
The bosses lay their weights on your back until it bleeds
They will laugh and tell you how you're gonna pay for all your deeds
I got twenty-seven years till I can go
And as long as I am here, my Lord
The only thing I know is that County Road
Running out of time on that ol' County Road
The hole?s too deep to climb on that ol' County Road
And no one gives a damn if you live or if you die
And no one understands and I doubt they?ll ever cry
I got twenty-seven years till I can go
And as long as I am here, my Lord
The only place I know is that County Road
Well, I?m walking down that line, that County Road
There the sun don?t seem to shine, that County Road
Oh, I?m walking down that line on that County Road
