Master of the Game is a novel by Sidney Sheldon, first published in hardback format in 1982. Spanning six generations in the lives of the fictional MacGregor/Blackwell family, the critically acclaimed novel spent four weeks at number one on the New York Times Best Seller List, and was later adapted into a 1984 television miniseries.

On August 4, 2009 (two years after Sheldon's death), William Morrow and Company released a sequel, Sidney Sheldon's Mistress of the Game, written by Tilly Bagshawe.

Publication history

Master of the Game has been translated into numerous languages, and reprinted seven times. It was originally published by William Morrow & Co. in 1982. In 1983, the book was reprinted four times; in January, by HarperCollins in June by Thorndike Pr., in paperback format by Warner Books in August, and was later released by Pan Books, in December of the same year. The novel was re-released by Warner Books in 1988. In 1993, Master Of The Game was part of an omnibus edition by a publishing company named, Diamond Books, which was owned by HarperCollins Publishers. The other two books in the omnibus were Bloodline (1977) and Rage of Angels (1980), both major bestsellers by Sidney Sheldon. The most recent version of the book was printed in April 2005 by HarperCollins Ltd.

Jayceon Terrell Taylor (born November 29, 1979), better known by his stage name The Game (or simply Game), is an American rapper and actor. Game is best known as a rapper in the West Coast hip hop scene, and for being one of Dr. Dre's most notable protégés. Born in Los Angeles, California, he released his first mixtape You Know What It Is Vol. 1 in 2002, and landed a record deal with the independent label Get Low Recordz owned by JT the Bigga Figga. The Game's mixtape reached the hands of Sean Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records, who originally was on the verge of signing him to his label. Five months later, he was discovered by Dr. Dre who listened to the mixtape and signed him to his Aftermath Entertainment label in 2003. He rose to fame in 2005 with the success of his debut album The Documentary (2005) and Doctor's Advocate (2006). The Recording Industry Association of America certified his album The Documentary double platinum in March 2005 and it has sold over five million copies worldwide.

24: The Game is a third-person shooter video game, based on the FOX television series, 24. The game was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment's Cambridge Studios and was published by 2K Games for PlayStation 2. It was announced on March 30, 2005 and was released in North America exclusively on February 27, 2006. The player controls many characters from the television series at different points in the game. The missions in the game involve elements of third-person shooter, driving and puzzle games. The musical score was composed by Sean Callery, while the script was written by Duppy Demetrius and the series production team.

24: The Game makes extensive use of actors' voices and likenesses from the TV series, as well as using a script and music score from the same production team. Casting and voice production for 24: The Game were organized and handled by Blindlight. The events contained in the game are set in Los Angeles between the second and third seasons of the show. The story features three plotlines that overlap around a character from Jack Bauer's past named Peter Madsen.
