Fuck is an American indie rock band, formed in Oakland, California in 1993. The band consists of Timothy Prudhomme, Geoff Soule, Kyle Statham, and Theodore Ellison. They have recorded for a number of labels including Matador Records and Homesleep Records of Italy.
Fuck was formed in Oakland, California in 1993. The members met while stuck in a police holding cell over the weekend, and wrote a few songs while in jail. They released a self-titled cassette called Fuck, and a single, MonkeyBeautyShotgun on their own imprint, Rhesus Records, in 1994. (The songs from the cassette would eventually find their way onto later releases.) They released their second full-length album Pretty...Slow in 1996. The album was ultimately released on three different labels. Their third album, Baby Loves a Funny Bunny, was also released in 1996.
The band then signed to Matador Records, who released the albums Pardon My French in 1997 and Conduct in 1998. According to Timothy Prudhomme, the band were told by a Matador marketing director that they needed to change the name of the band. They refused to give in.
For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (also known as F.U.C.K.) is the ninth studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen, released in 1991 on Warner Bros. Records. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and maintained the position for three weeks.
The album's title came from lead singer Sammy Hagar, who wanted to push the issue of censorship with naming Van Halen's album with a vulgarity, stating, "That's when censorship was a big issue. I wanted to name the album just Fuck." Hagar eventually backed away from the outright vulgarity after he was told by his friend, former world lightweight boxing champion Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, that the word "fuck" was an acronym for the phrase "for unlawful carnal knowledge" (though this is a false etymology). Their tour promoting the album was unofficially named F.U.C.K. 'n' Live. Prior to recording, the term "for unlawful carnal knowledge" was first used by the band Coven as a track on their album Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls in 1969.
Latin is the third album from improvisational electronic band Holy Fuck. It was placed on the Long List for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize. In the United States, the album reached #14 on the Billboard Dance charts and #40 on the Heatseekers chart.
So I’m alone for the first time in five years,
holy fuck, things have changed.
I’m happy to see you can live without me.
I’ve sorted out my life, my tragic life.
Don’t pat yourself on the back yet.
Just shut your mouth and pay your rent.
And make a record they’ll never forget.
I care too much, too much to leave.
You don’t turn your back on family.
Besides, how could I ever look you in the eye without knowing that I tried?
Thank God it wasn’t winter when all this me and you shit hit the fan.
The sun, the streets, the records I bought were my crutches again and again.
Don’t pat yourself on the back yet.
Just shut your mouth and pay your rent.
This is a year that you’ll never forget.
Change is something I accept,
