On the Border is the third studio album by American rock group the Eagles, released in 1974. Apart from two songs produced by Glyn Johns, the album was produced by Bill Szymczyk as the group wanted a more rock‑oriented sound to their album instead of the country rock feel of the first two albums. It is the Eagles first album to feature guitarist Don Felder. The album reached No. 17 on the Billboard album chart and has sold 2 million copies.

The album also released three singles, "Already Gone", "James Dean" and "Best Of My Love". The singles reached No. 32, No. 77 and No. 1 respectively. "Best of My Love" became the band's first of five chart toppers.

This is the first album by the Eagles to be released in Quadraphonic surround sound. It was released on Quadraphonic 8-track tape and CD-4 LP. A hidden message carved into the run out groove of some vinyl LPs reads: "He who hesitates is lunch".

Background

The album was initially produced by Glyn Johns and recorded at Olympic Studios, London, but during the making of the album, disagreement arose between the band and the producer. As the band tried to lean towards a more hard rock sound, they felt that their producer Glyn Johns overemphasized their country-influenced rock sound. The band dismissed Johns, and discarded all the recordings except for two songs, "Best of My Love" and "You Never Cry Like a Lover". The band relocated back to California, hired Bill Szymczyk, and recorded the rest of the album at the Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles. Szymczyk suggested they bring in a harder-edged guitarist to add slide guitar to the song "Good Day in Hell". Bernie Leadon suggested his old friend Don Felder, whom they had met and jammed with on a few occasions. The band was so impressed that they invited Felder to become the fifth Eagle. The only other track on this album on which he appeared was "Already Gone". They credited him as a late arrival on the album's liner notes.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina (also known as On The Border Mexican Café) is a chain of Tex-Mex food casual dining restaurants located in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and recently opened in Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. There are over 160 restaurants within the United States, two locations in Puerto Rico, one location in Egypt, one in the United Arab Emirates, one in Saudi Arabia and nine locations in South Korea that are known and On The Border is still spreading internationally. The chain and brand name is owned by OTB Acquisition LLC.

Founded in 1982, the restaurant is known for its selection of fajitas and wide selection of margaritas. It is also known for "Guacamole Live," the preparation of fresh guacamole tableside. On March 3, 2009, the chain lost its wholly owned subsidiary designation when it was merged into Brinker International as a company brand. In 2010, Brinker International sold On the Border to Golden Gate Capital. OTB Acquisition LLC, an affiliate of Golden Gate Capital, announced that it has completed its acquisition of On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina from Brinker International, Inc. (NYSE: EAT).

On the Border (1930) is an all-talking drama with songs that stars Rin Tin Tin. It was adapted from a story by Lillie Hayward who also wrote the screenplay. Armida sings two songs in the picture.

Synopsis

Philo McCullough, as Farrell, is the head of a smuggling ring who are attempting to smuggle Chinese workers across the border from Mexico. McCullough stops at a hacienda, near the Mexican border, which is owned by Bruce Covington (as Don Jose). Covington's dog, Rin Tin Tin, senses that something is hidden under the vegetables, which McCullough has in his trucks, and discovers the Chinese. McCullough attempts to buy the hacienda from Covington. McCullough also hopes to get Armida (as Pepita), Covington's daughter, as part of the deal. Meanwhile, some border agents (John Litel and William Irving) disguised as tramps, discover McCullough's plans. Armida and Rin Tin Tin take a liking to Litel. Meanwhile, Covington has innocently sold his hacienda to McCullough. When the smugglers find out who Litel real is, they capture him. Rin Tin Tin manages to save him at the last minute. The border patrol then surrounds the hacienda and as Farrell tries to escape in a car but Rin Rin Tin captures him in the nick of time.

Richard Harland (born 15 January 1947 in Yorkshire) is an English fantasy and science fiction writer, living in New South Wales, Australia. He was born in 1947 in Huddersfield, United Kingdom and migrated to Australia in 1970. He has been an academic, performance artist and writer, publishing 15 full length works of fiction, three academic books, short stories and poems.

He is the author of the Eddon and Vail science fiction thriller series, the Heaven and Earth young adult fantasy trilogy and the illustrated Wolf Kingdom series for children. He has been awarded the Australian Aurealis Award on five occasions for his fiction.

Life and academic career

Richard Harland completed undergraduate studies at Cambridge University, graduating with a BA and majoring in English. After graduation, he planned an ambitious doctoral thesis, focusing on a global theory of the language of poetry and approached numerous universities around the globe seeking funding for his research. Support was unforthcoming until an offer from the University of Newcastle in New South Wales, consequently he migrated to Australia in 1970 to take advantage of this opportunity. He originally only intended to remain in the country until his PhD was completed, but after some months decided to settle permanently.

Go On... was the third album by American pop band Mr. Mister. It was released in 1987, and featured a more serious tone than their previous album Welcome to the Real World, which was commercially successful. This album did not fare as well commercially and would become the last publicly released album by the band before they broke up in 1989.

Reception

In their retrospective review, AllMusic contended that Go On... retained the same themes, stylistics, and quality of work as their previous releases, and "The only significant change was in record sales." They particularly praised the album's lyrics, commenting, "during the height of the materialistic '80s, Go On was an example of a band using its pop culture bully pulpit to suggest that the "greed is good" philosophy was leaving a spiritual vacuum in American culture."
