John A. Cameron (December 28, 1881 – 1953) was a Canadian athlete who competed in the 1920 Summer Olympics.

He was born in Vancouver.

In 1920 he participated in the Olympic hammer throw event but was unable to set a mark.

At the 1930 Empire Games he won the bronze medal in the hammer throw competition.

Lieutenant-General John Cameron CB, FRS, RE (31 March 1817 - 30 June 1878) was executive officer and director-general of the Ordnance Survey.

He was son of Lieutenant-General Sir John Cameron (1773-1844), KCB, and brother to General Sir Duncan Alexander Cameron, GCB.

He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Society on 4 June 1868.

Prof John Cameron FRSE (1873-1960) was a Scottish anatomist who moved to Nova Scotia to teach at Dalhousie University. He was a noted author on subjects deciphering human evolution through anatomical analysis including The Skeleton of British Neolthic Man.

He was born in Laurencekirk in Kincardineshire on 16 September 1873, the son of Major David Cameron.

He studied at Montrose Academy and then went to Edinburgh University to study Medicine. He graduated MB ChB in 1898. From 1899 to 1905 he acted as a Demonstrator in Anatomy at the University of St Andrews. The university awarded him a doctorate (DSc) in 1904 and Edinburgh University awarded him a MD degree in the same year. In 1905 he moved to Manchester University as a Senior Demonstrator. In 1908 he moved to be a Lecturer at London University, also then working at Middlesex Hospital.

In 1915 he left Britain to go to Nova Scotia to take a role as Professor of Anatomy at Dalhousie University, continuing in this role until 1930.

John Cameron (c. 1579 – 1625) was a Scottish theologian.

Life and academic career

Cameron was born at Glasgow and received his early education in his native city. After having taught Greek in the university for twelve months, he removed to Bordeaux, where he was soon appointed a regent in the college of Bergerac. He did not remain long at Bordeaux, but accepted the offer of a chair of philosophy at the Academy of Sedan, where he passed two years. He then returned to Bordeaux, and in the beginning of 1604 he was nominated one of the students of divinity who were maintained, at the expense of the church, and who for the period of four years were at liberty to prosecute their studies in any Protestant seminary. During this period he acted as tutor to the two sons of the chancellor of Navarre. They spent one year at Paris, and two at Geneva, whence they removed to Heidelberg. In this university, on 4 April 1608, he gave a public proof of his ability by maintaining a series of theses, De triplici Dei cum Homine Foedere, which were printed among his works. The same year he was recalled to Bordeaux, where he was appointed the colleague of Dr Gilbert Primrose; and when Francis Gomarus was removed to Leiden, Cameron, in 1618, was appointed professor of divinity at the Academy of Saumur, the principal seminary of the French Protestants.
