John Charles Julian Lennon (born 8 April 1963) is a British musician and photographer. He is the first child of John Lennon with his first wife, Cynthia. The Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, was his godfather. He has a younger half-brother, Sean Lennon. Lennon was named after his paternal grandmother, Julia Lennon.
Lennon was the direct inspiration for three Beatles' songs: "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", "Hey Jude" and "Good Night". He is devoted to philanthropic endeavors, most notably his own White Feather Foundation and the Whaledreamers Organization, both of which promote the co-existence of all species and the health and well-being of the Earth.
Julian Lennon was born in Liverpool. Initially, the fact that John Lennon was married and had a child was concealed from the public, in keeping with the conventional wisdom of the era that female teenage fans would not be as enamoured of married male pop stars. Lennon inspired one of his father's most famous songs, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", whose lyrics describe a picture the boy had drawn, a watercolour painting of his friend Lucy O'Donnell from nursery school surrounded by stars. Another composition of his father inspired by him was the lullaby "Good Night", the closing song of the White Album. In 1967, he attended the set of the Beatles' film Magical Mystery Tour.
Help Yourself may refer to:
"Help Yourself" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Tom Jones in 1968. The song is one of Jones' best known songs and reached number five in the UK Singles Chart in its original run. It topped the charts in both Ireland and Germany, and spent three weeks at the top spot in Australia. The American single reached Billboard peaks of number 35 pop and number three easy listening, and is still widely played on adult-standards radio.
"Help Yourself" is a reworked English-language version of the Italian song "Gli Occhi Miei" ("My Eyes"), which was written by Carlo Donida with lyrics by Mogol and originally performed by both Dino (Eugenio Zambelli) and Wilma Goich at the 1968 Sanremo festival. British author and songwriter Jack Fishman (aka Larry Khan) wrote the English lyrics, which bear no relation to the original Italian.
The song was recorded by comedian Steve Coogan in character as Tony Ferrino. The track was used in the TV show, included on an album and released as a single in November 1996, reaching #42 in the UK singles chart.
Help Yourself is the fourth studio album by singer-songwriter Julian Lennon.
It was released in August 1991, on Atlantic Records in the US and on Virgin Records in the UK. The album was a commercial success in Europe for Lennon, spawning a UK no.6 hit in "Saltwater" (as well as topping the charts in Australia for four weeks); however, it did not do as well in the US, where Atlantic Records were said to have under-promoted the album.
The album features uncredited guitar contributions from George Harrison.
The album was reissued, along with The Secret Value of Daydreaming and Mr. Jordan, on 8 September 2009 by Noble Rot Records.
I don't wanna know what's going on
and I don't wanna know what's right or wrong
and I don't wanna know who's bed you're in
and I don't wanna know just where you've been.
Oh baby, you were never really good for me
just maybe, you're a stranger to reality
and baby, don't you know you haven't got a clue
'cos lately, I don't know what to do.
I don't wanna know what's going on
and I don't wanna know what's right or wrong
and I don't wanna know who's bed you're in
and I don't wanna know just where you've been.
Oh baby, you said you're changing for the better now
just maybe, you're not as strong as you thought somehow
and baby, you know you're heading down a one way track
and baby, I won't bring you back.
Well, you said you were looking for a better way
but you just keep coming back
to a place you can never seem to get away
that will always hold you back...
Oh baby, you said you'd rather be a daddy's girl,
but lately, you're try'n a fight against the whole wide world
just maybe, you've found a love that you can hold on to
and baby, I pray for you.
I don't wanna know what's going on
and I don't wanna know what's right or wrong
and I don't wanna know who's bed you're in
and I don't wanna know just where you've been...
