Kyle Miyata Larson (born July 31, 1992 in Elk Grove, California) is a Japanese American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, driving the No. 42 Chevrolet SS for Chip Ganassi Racing. He also competes part-time in the Xfinity Series, driving the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for HScott Motorsports. He was named the 2012 K&N Pro Series East Rookie of the Year and champion, he is also the 2013 Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as well as an overall winner of the 2015 24 Hours of Daytona. He was the 2014 Cup Series Rookie of the Year.

Racing career

Early career and open wheel career

A resident of Elk Grove, California, Larson attended his first race with his parents a week after his birth; he began racing at the age of seven in outlaw karts in Northern California. As a teenager he raced open-wheel cars, including United States Auto Club (USAC) midget, Silver Crown and sprint cars, competing for Keith Kunz Motorsports and Hoffman Racing with Toyota backing; he also raced in World of Outlaws sprint cars. His first sprint car race win was at Placerville Speedway, where he was one of the youngest drivers to ever compete.

Kyle Larson (born September 2, 1980) is a former American football punter. He was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He played college football at Nebraska.

Early years

Larson attended Kearney High School in Kearney, Nebraska. He saw action at center, linebacker, and punter, and as a senior, he won All-State honors at punter after averaging 46.5 yards per punt. In addition to football, Larson competed in track and field. Larson was a member of Kearney High's 1999 Class A State Championship team where he placed 2nd in discus and 3rd in shot put at the Nebraska State Track Meet.

College career

Larson was a walk-on at the University of Nebraska. Following a redshirt season in 1999, he backed up starter Dan Hadenfeldt in 2000. He then started from 2001-2003. He was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award his junior year, and finalist his senior year, as well as being named an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association. He benched 405 pounds his senior year and hang cleaned 458. As a senior in 2003, he set the Nebraska record with a 45.1-yard avg. on 66 punts, the record would later be broken by Sam Koch. Larson also earned All-Big 12 honors. He graduated with a degree in business administration.
