Donald S. Strong (1912–1995) was an American political scientist. He was Professor of Political Science at the University of Alabama from 1946 to 1979. He published research about antisemitism in the 1930s in the United States, African-American voter suppression, and the rise of the Republican Party in the Southern United States.

Early life

Donald Stuart Strong was born on December 31, 1912 in New York City.

Strong graduated from Oberlin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1934. He received a PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 1939.

Academic career

Strong taught Political Science at Case Western Reserve University from 1937 to 1939, and at the University of Texas at Austin from 1939 to 1947. He published his first book, Organized Anti-Semitism in America: The Rise of Group Prejudice During the Decade 1930-40, in 1941. A year later, in 1942, he published an essay entitled Anti-Revolutionary, Anti-Semitic Organizations in the United States Since 1933.

Donald is a town in Victoria, Australia, located on the Richardson River, at the junction of Sunraysia Highway and Borung Highway, in the Shire of Buloke. At the 2011 Census it had a population of 1,693.

History

The town is named after William Donald, a Scottish pastoralist who was the first settler in the area in 1844. At the 2011 census, Donald had a population of 1,693. The earliest township was known as Richardson Bridge until surveyed as Donald in 1866. The Donald Post Office opened on 1 August 1870 replacing that of nearby Mount Jeffcott which had operated since 1860.

The town grew steadily boosted by the closer settlement of the surrounding countryside and the arrival of the railway in 1882.

On 26 September 2006, Donald was the scene of the Borung Highway collision in which seven people died.

Donald has been a victim of several floods in recent years, with the most severe in January 2011. Major floods also occurred in August 1909, 1918, 1956, 1975 and 1992. Contrarily, the area suffered a major drought period in the 1990s and 2000s, significantly impacting the community which primarily relies on crop farming to survive.

The "Steam Team" was introduced in Season 8. Whatever We Wanna is the eighth studio album by LeAnn Rimes, released June 6, 2006. The album is similar to her R&B influenced Twisted Angel but has a more rock-oriented sound. The album was released and promoted exclusively in Europe, Taiwan, and Brazil. It was originally slated to be released in the U.S. (and even appeared in the US iTunes store briefly), however, the release was pulled due to the success of her single (from This Woman), "Something's Gotta Give" (which peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Top Country Songs), leading to an increase in sales of This Woman.

Three singles were released from the album. "And It Feels Like" was released as the lead single from the album on May 5, 2006. The second single, "Strong", was released in Germany on June 23, 2006.
