Ron Dante (born Carmine Granito on August 22, 1945, on Staten Island, New York) is an American singer, songwriter, session vocalist, and record producer. Dante is best known as the lead singer for the fictional cartoon band The Archies, as well as the one-hit wonder group The Cuff Links. He is also well known as the Co-Producer of Barry Manilow's first nine albums. Ron Dante did a 1975 CBS TV pilot show called Hip Patches. He did an interview with a group of young musicians in a band named Silvermoon.
The Archies single "Sugar, Sugar", written by producer Jeff Barry with Andy Kim, was the number-one selling record of 1969 in the United States. Four years earlier, Dante was a member of the parody group The Detergents, who recorded a novelty song called "Leader of the Laundromat". Concurrent with his work on the Archies project, Dante was also employed as a session singer and performed many television and commercial jingles.
In 1969, Dante recorded an album under the group name of The Cuff Links, for his old Detergents songwriter-producers Paul Vance and Lee Pockriss. Providing both lead and background vocals through overdubbing (as he did with most of the male Archies' vocals) Dante hit the U.S. Top Ten with the single "Tracy," at the same time that "Sugar, Sugar" occupied the top of the chart. Dante was anonymous on both tracks. Contrary to popular belief, the lead verses of another Archies single, "Jingle Jangle" (portrayed as being sung by either Betty or Veronica), were not sung by a female vocalist, but rather by Dante using falsetto vocals.
"Get It" is a song by Australian DJ and recording artist Havana Brown. It was written and produced by Cassie Davis and Snob Scrilla of production duo More Mega, and was released digitally on 9 September 2011.
"Get It" was co-written and produced by Cassie Davis and Snob Scrilla of production duo More Mega, who had worked on Havana Brown's previous single "We Run the Night". In an interview with Jonathon Moran of the Daily Telegraph, Brown described the central theme of the track as a: "feel-good, party song... about going out there and having a good time", likening it to a "Las Vegas anthem". "Get It" was released digitally via iTunes Stores on 9 September 2011, as a non-album single. A digital extended play was also released via iTunes, featuring remixes of "Get It" and the RedOne remix of "We Run the Night". The recording debuted and peaked on the ARIA Singles Chart at number 38 on 25 September 2011. "Get It" also appeared on the ARIA Dance Singles Chart, peaking at number six.
Tug of War is the third solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released in April 1982. It was McCartney's first album released after the dissolution of Wings in April 1981. The album was produced by former Beatles producer George Martin and was a number #1 in numerous countries.
Following the release of the solo album McCartney II, Wings regrouped in July and October 1980 to rehearse several songs which later appeared on Tug of War and Pipes of Peace. Feeling the need for direction, McCartney called upon his old producer, George Martin, to begin recording a song written for the animated Rupert Bear character (to which McCartney owned the rights), entitled "We All Stand Together", among others. The productive sessions continued until 9 December, the morning McCartney woke up to discover his old songwriting partner and fellow ex-Beatle, John Lennon, had been shot and killed the night before in New York City. Abandoning that day's session part-way through (where he and Denny Laine were recording future B-Side "Rainclouds"), both Martin and McCartney felt it was best to leave the project for the time being and start anew once they were ready.
Get It is an album by X-Sinner. At the time of its release, Get It was one of the most talked about albums White Metal albums. The record was nominated for a Dove award and had three number one singles and five top ten singles.
Kent /ˈkɛnt/ is a county in South East England and one of the home counties. It borders Greater London to the north west, Surrey to the west, East Sussex to the south west, and across the Thames Estuary is the county of Essex. The county town is Maidstone.
Canterbury Cathedral in Kent has been the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, leader of the Church of England, since the conversion of England to Christianity by Saint Augustine in the 6th century.
Between London and the Strait of Dover, which separates it from mainland Europe, Kent has seen both diplomacy and conflict, ranging from the Leeds Castle peace talks of 1978 and 2004 to the Battle of Britain in World War II.
England relied on the county's ports to provide warships through much of its history; the Cinque Ports in the 12th–14th centuries and Chatham Dockyard in the 16th–20th centuries were of particular importance. France can be seen clearly in fine weather from Folkestone and the White Cliffs of Dover. Hills in the form of the North Downs and the Greensand Ridge span the length of the county and in the series of valleys in between and to the south are most of the county's 26 castles.
Kent is a town in Putnam County, New York, United States. The population was 13,507 at the 2010 census. The name is that of an early settler family. The town is in the north-central part of the Putnam County. Many of the lakes are reservoirs for New York City.
Kent was part of the Philipse Patent of 1697, when it was still populated by the Wappinger tribe. Daniel Nimham (1724–1778) was the last chief of the Wappingers and was the most prominent Native American of his time in the Hudson Valley.
The town was first settled by Europeans in the mid-18th century by Zachariah Merritt and others, from New England, Westchester County, or the Fishkill area. Elisha Cole and his wife Hannah Smalley built Coles Mills in 1748, having moved to that location the previous year from Cape Cod. Coles Mill operated until 1888 when it was submerged under West Branch Reservoir. Around this same time the northeastern part of the county was settled by the Kent, Townsend, and Ludington families, among others. The father of Hannah Smalley and his family moved to Kent about two years before Elisha Cole and his family.
Kent is a surname, and may refer to:
