Brother Rice High School may refer to:

Brother Rice High School is a Roman Catholic all-boys non-residential college prep school with approximately 700 students located in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, United States in Metro Detroit. The school has a Bloomfield Hills mailing address. Until 1993 its address was in neighboring Birmingham, Michigan's postal district. In 1993 the U.S. Postal Service rezoned their districts giving Brother Rice a "Bloomfield Hills" address.

Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, Brother Rice was founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1960 and named after their founder Edmund Ignatius Rice. The school's mission is to develop the body, mind and soul of its students through a Christian Brother education. It is regarded as one of the premier college prep schools in the state and known for Academic Excellence in the Catholic Tradition. One-hundred percent of the school's graduates are accepted to a 4-year college. Since 1964, Brother Rice has graduated over 9,750 alumni who are known as the Band of Brothers. The alumni are a part of the school's legacy of leaders and play a prominent role as leaders of industry, education, faith and family. Brother Rice alumni are represented in every state across the United States and in over 20 countries around the world.

Brother Rice High School is a Catholic, all male college preparatory institution located in Chicago, Illinois, and is administered under the Congregation of Christian Brothers. On the same block of land, directly to the east, is the all-female Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, while Saint Xavier University is located just to the south of Mother McAuley, and to the southeast of Brother Rice. Its enrollment is mostly drawn from local neighborhoods such as Beverly, Mt. Greenwood, West Lawn, Morgan Park and Ashburn, as well as local suburban municipalities such as Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Palos Heights, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Burbank, and Alsip. The Christian Brothers of Ireland founded the school in 1956. Thus, the school's namesake is the founder of their religious order, Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice. It is affiliated with Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

School colors and seal

The official school colors are maroon and orange. The maroon was taken from the maroon and gold colors of Iona College founded in 1940 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers and located in New Rochelle, New York. The orange is taken from the black and orange colors of Leo High School located in Chicago, Illinois and also opened by the Christian Brothers in 1926. In most jurisdictions, secondary education in the United States refers to the last four years of statutory formal education (grade nine through grade twelve) either at high school or split between a final year of 'junior high school' and three in high school.

History

The United States historically had a demand for general skills rather than specific training/apprenticeships. High school enrollment increased when schools at this level became free, laws required children to attend until a certain age, and it was believed that every American student had the opportunity to participate regardless of their ability.

In 1892, in response to many competing academic philosophies being promoted at the time, a working group of educators, known as the "Committee of Ten" was established by the National Education Association. It recommended twelve years of instruction, consisting of eight years of elementary education followed by four years of high school. Rejecting suggestions that high schools should divide students into college-bound and working-trades groups from the start, and in some cases also by race or ethnic background, they unanimously recommended that "every subject which is taught at all in a secondary school should be taught in the same way and to the same extent to every pupil so long as he pursues it, no matter what the probable destination of the pupil may be, or at what point his education is to cease."

"High School" is a song by Trinidadian recording artist Nicki Minaj featuring American rapper Lil Wayne for Minaj's reissued second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up (2012). It was released on April 16, 2013, by Young Money, Cash Money, and Republic as the fourth single from the record. The song was written and produced by Boi-1da and T-Minus, with additional songwriting provided by Minaj and Lil Wayne. "High School" is a hip hop and R&B song that lyrically discusses adultery.

Upon its release, "High School" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who felt its production was reminiscent of her earlier mixtape tracks. It peaked at number 64 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and additionally reached numbers 15 and 20 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs component charts. Elsewhere, the track charted moderately throughout international singles charts, including number 31 on the UK Singles Chart.
