The 2012–13 Big Bash League season or BBL|02 was the second season of the Big Bash League, the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The tournament began on 7 December 2012, with the final being held on 19 January 2013.

The defending champions, Sydney Sixers were knocked out in the group stage. Melbourne Renegades finished first in the group stage with 7 wins and a loss. Perth Scorchers, Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat were the other teams to reach the semi-finals.

In the first semi-final, Brisbane Heat defeated Melbourne Renegades by 15 runs to make it to the finals of the Big Bash League for the first time. In the other semi-final, Perth Scorchers defeated Melbourne Stars by 8 wickets in a rain curtailed match to make it to the finals for the second time in a row. Melbourne Stars failed to advance to the final for the second successive year.

In the final, Brisbane Heat beat Perth Scorchers by 34 runs to lift their first Big Bash League title. Perth Scorchers finished runners-up for the second successive year.

The 2015–16 Big Bash League season or BBL|05 was the fifth season of the Big Bash League (BBL), the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The tournament ran from 17 December 2015 to 24 January 2016. The format of the tournament was identical to previous seasons. Each team played eight group stage matches, four at home and four away, before the top four ranked teams progressed to the Semi Finals. The Final of the tournament was played at the home ground of the highest-ranked team.

The Perth Scorchers were the reigning champions and were seeking a third successive title, but were beaten in the semi-finals by the Melbourne Stars.

The opening Sydney Derby match was played for the Batting for Change Trophy at Spotless Stadium. The match saw both the sides earning money for the Batting for Change charity with every six hit. Players had pledged to donate a total of $775 for each six hit during the match, as part of the Batting for Change cause set up by Sydney Sixers' player Ryan Carters.

The 2014–15 Big Bash League season or BBL|04 was the fourth season of the Big Bash League (BBL), the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The fourth edition ran from 18 December 2014 to 28 January 2015. The league ran two weeks longer as compared to the previous season. The opening match of the 2014–15 Big Bash League was played between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars on 18 December at the Adelaide Oval. The format of fourth season is same as previous season. A total of 35 matches will be played during the Big Bash 2014–15 season.

The Perth Scorchers won back-to-back titles by defeating the Sydney Sixers by 4 wickets on the last ball of the match. The final was also the final match of Brett Lee's career. It was hosted at Canberra's Manuka Oval.

Jacques Kallis of the Sydney Thunder was named 'Player of the Tournament' for his 235 runs and 6 wickets in the tournament. Jason Behrendorff of the Scorchers was named 'Young Gun of the Tournament' for his 15 wickets in the season.
