American Crime is an American anthology crime drama television series that premiered on ABC on March 5, 2015. The series was created by John Ridley, and stars Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton. The series centers on race, class, and gender politics as it follows a racially charged murder and the subsequent trial.

The series was renewed for a second season on May 7, 2015. The second season, which premiered on-demand on December 17, 2015, and premiered on ABC on January 6, 2016, features a new storyline and characters, with some actors from the first season—including Huffman, Hutton, Regina King, Elvis Nolasco, Richard Cabral, and Lili Taylor—playing different characters.

The first season of American Crime received critical acclaim. Plot

After two strip club workers disappear and are found dead later on, a team of reporters unearth a mysterious tape which shows the women being followed and later murdered by the camera man. After investigating the cases further, the reporters on the team become targeted by the murderer and have other chilling tapes sent to them. The team are joined by the host of the hit television show American Crime, who assists them on their journey to uncover the true murderer, as a man was already sent to jail for the killings. With a disbelieving sheriff ignoring the case, the reporters must solve the crime themselves before they themselves are killed.
