Loro Parque, located in Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife, Spain, is a zoo and botanical garden that was established in 1972. Initially, the park was solely dedicated to parrots, but over the years, it has expanded to include a wide variety of other animal and plant species. This makes it a diverse destination for tourists interested in wildlife and nature.
Loro Parque is particularly renowned for its marine life, including killer whales, dolphins, and sea lions. It boasts the largest dolphin show aquarium and the longest aquarium tunnel in Europe, as well as the world's largest indoor penguin enclosure. Daily shows featuring these marine animals, along with parrots, provide an engaging experience for visitors.
In 1994, Loro Parque established the 'Loro Parque Foundation', an international organization that is a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The foundation emphasizes the importance of nature and environmental conservation. It has implemented 82 projects in 28 countries worldwide, with 31 projects still active. Approximately 150 people work daily on these conservation efforts.
