Cherusens
The Cherusens were an ancient human tribe who settled in what would become the Empire. [1a]
History
Their lands were invaded by the Norsii around -8 IC and with the Taleutens, Aloysis asked King Björn for aid as nearly 600 of his people sought refuge in Reikdorf. [2a]
The combined army of about 7000 warriors met the 6000 of the Norse in battle in the foothills east of the Middle Mountains and defeated them but the Warlord of the enemy managed to retreat with many of his warriors to a wooded ridgeline - giving them a good defensive position. [2b]
After the Norse were defeated the Cherusens were reluctant to renew the war in the spring but when Sigmar arrived with an army of 3000 warriors and camped before their gates, they ackowledged their sword-oaths and joined him. [2c]
A great horde of Greenskins had invaded the lands of the Ostagoths, Merogens and Menogoths. The combined armies of the Cherusen, Endals, Taleutens and Unberogens faced them at the Battle of the Aver, defending the bridges over the river Aver. For several days and nights the battle raged until finally the humans were victorious but at great cost. [2d]
Following the Battle of Black Fire Pass, border disputes arose with the Taleutens, each claiming the other were rainding across the border. [3a] In the summer of 1 IC, Sigmar called for a great muster against Marius of the Jutones and with their allies, he marched on him with a combined force of around 10,000 warriors, Aloysis sending hundreds of warriors and a hundred of the infamous wildmen. [3c]
