The 8th Expeditionary Fleet was an Expedition Fleet of the Great Crusade.^[1]

History

In the early Great Crusade, the vanguard of the Fleet consisted of a large contingent of the IV^th Legion.^[1]

For 11 years, the 8th Fleet fought a series of actions to secure Imperial control over the coreward portions of Segmentum Solar, conquering or liberating 29 clusters of systems and exterminating a number of xenos empires.^[1]

Later the 8th Fleet took extremely heavy losses during the liberation of Incaladion; almost 29,000 Astartes were killed in the war.^[1]

Heraldry

The emblem of the 8th Fleet was a winged lightning bolt. Notably, the IV^th Legion adopted this symbol for themselves before they were reunited with their primarch, Perturabo.^[1]
