Blogging – And Why It’s Important To Bring It Back.
Something that’s been on my mind for quite some time now.
So, here’s the scoop. I know I am not the only one who has been feeling a bit let down by social media lately. I have discussions on the regular with my blogging friends, we discuss how the instagram algorithm has really taken a turn for the worse and it’s harder than ever to grow in numbers/likes. You put so much effort into making beautiful content only for it to be pushed way down peoples timelines, it being seen by about 5-7% of your audience. Instagram has been under fire lately for hiding likes/views on posts on certain users profiles so you keep closing and reopening the app – which in turn makes you look at their ads more = gives their advertisers more views. It seems that all integrity has gone out the window. And we are all annoyed/upset /frustrated with this. I can’t even imagine what it is like for a blogger starting out these days. It must be so demoralizing.
The thing is – instagram has become the new “be all and end all” of social media. Brands don’t seem to care too much for content written and shared on blogs anymore. The online society we live in has forced this into happening. But I was watching Andy Torres of StyleScrapbook stories the other day, she is the first blogger I ever followed and I have a great deal of respect for her. She made a story that really hit the nail on the head, and it resonated with me. The points she got across were:
So I think it’s time to bring the blogs BACK. If you like the content you see from bloggers, take the time to check out their blog. If you have a blog, don’t be discouraged. Keep writing. Keep creating.
Because at the end of the day, Instagram is only a social media platform. It will be replaced by the next big thing. But as long as you look after your little corner of the internet, no app can take that away from you.
