On the other hand, mosaic can also refer to that which belongs to or is related to Moses, Hebrew prophet that appears in the Bible: “The Mosaic Law was given to the people”. In this case, the word comes from the Greek Μωσαϊκός (mosaikós).

In Biology, it is known as genetic mosaic or mosaicism to an alteration of the genes in which, in the same organism, two or more cell populations with different genotypes coexist, and which are believed to have originated from the same zygote.
