I feel like I’ve discussed this before with a mutual… but… I don’t really like Nesta being Illyrian period. I am within the same category of people who think that Feyre having Illyrian wings is super yucky. Especially because you know… it’s a characteristic associated with a specific culture and race of people. Like sorry, but I’m not the one who made this series and added a whole bunch of “woke” topics, built a whole entire plot around early imperialism from book 1 mind you, discussed this topic in a very confusing but obvious way with multiple groups of people with differences in sexuality, race, gender, trauma and mental health experiences, and decided it wasn’t really a big deal after all.

That being said, I’m all for them being “other” and perhaps having wings. Like to me shape shifting, the power that Feyre got, could have been like… getting wings from an animal or a mythological creature or something like that. NOT A RACE OF PEOPLE! Who does that????

Sigh sigh sigh. So x for me. But do I think it would be cool if Nesta developed sort of wings? Yeah maybe. It might be a bit repetitive, but who am I to speak about it? She could just really get a Pegasus and bam problem solved. And you know, I do like us the reader learning about Illyrian culture outside of you know… blatant discriminatory and “Eurocentric” practices in the context of the world that this series is a part of. But I think… we could just have Nesta, someone who’s of a different background, learning about Cassian’s culture because she loves him and that’s a part of him. It doesn’t really require her being of his exact people and race. You know?

Because in canon context, I really don’t know. Maybe read since he does that at least with war text. Also since he has a fascination with creatures in the prison, I would think maybe he’s also into myths and legends. I could see him being a weapons enthusiast and perhaps a collector. But otherwise… he’s a total gymbro. A gymbro with a few dogs, even if he doesn’t have them yet in canon. He’s also stupidly social, it seems, so probably hanging out with his friends and going out a lot. I could see him being into like camping, fishing, etc. So this is why I could see Lucien and him being really good friends if Cassian wasn’t so moony-eyed over his incestuous circle.

Cooking is another hobby, that in canon and across all my fics, I think he has. That’s just fact.

But in fics specifically, I usually make him have different hobbies even if I have not written them in yet. I always have a vague idea about his interests outside of the above, because in fics I like each Cassian to be a bit different than the last but not by much. So in my fics, it can be anything from being obsessed with crime podcasts to volunteering at the animal shelter to making pottery in between his manly man hobbies you know.

In A House Full of Spiders, for example, (a fic that will be posted for nessian week), he’s into pottery since I wrote a head canon about that once and how Nesta can’t keep her eyes off his hands when he’s doing this. He like to make Nesta mugs since she has a collection. He makes her a mug shaped like a cauldron that has an engraving that says cauldron boil me on it (since I really want to make this mug but haven’t). But he also makes Elain like trays for her gardening tools or plates for when she bakes. For Feyre, he makes like a dog treat holder, because he’s still convinced Feyre has a dog but it’s really Rhys in disguise.

In Stu(died), he’s an animal enthusiast lmao since he likes taming the feral. Which if I wrote the next two chapters you would see since he helps out in a particular animal situation when Feyre comes to visit for winter break. He volunteers at the shelter. Also his hobby is also like… doing what his little sister wants. So he tends to drive her around lmao and they have their seasonal science museum visits. His hobby then would be being a good brother, which makes sense why he’s so easily transitions to a good boyfriend. I’ll actually start writing this fic again probably in October. It’s in its winter period right now and I tend to write seasonally.

I won’t go on. But basically Cassian has hobbies. I just like them to be beyond the “oh big brute. I eat meat and fuck all night and punch people for funseys” which is an exaggeration but nevertheless what I mean.

well… here’s the sitch and by that I mean plot.

Nesta in this au goes to a college where she is an apprentice to a historian. Much like Gwyn was to Merrill in acosf. However, in this Nesta is working on her own research project and will eventually become a professor herself, which is her dream, and to publish something professionally which is also her dream.

Yes… but I also abhor threesomes that don’t involve the male partners being attracted to each other. So in this case Cassian and Eris would be hard core hating each other while also having a hard on for the other. While Nesta’s like… hmmm… I think y'all like each other, but I won’t say anything because your mouth is busy right now and I don’t want to distract you.

You know… I had the idea that Amren would have like a one-sided obsession with Nesta that Nesta doesn’t ever reciprocate…

If I was really trying to entertain myself, maybe she’d do awful things in pursuit of her. She’d probably try to kill Cassian is subtle ways and also like taint his name every time Nesta’s near. She’d be full on psycho (probably).

In another version… I’d probably have like Nesta being an evil queen type in which Nesta has the upperhand over Amren and Amren would probably be like always trying to kill her which she never gets to succeed at.

But both would have some sort of sick romance.

If I didn’t hate Amren (as is my prerogative), I’d probably write an AU where she falls out of the sky in Prythrian past and finds Nesta in this new world and you know… maybe she’d be like the version of that one fae women who like was clever enough to trick the Death Gods, and I’d probably weave that into her tricking Amren too instead of her just being randomly tossed into the prison.

But yes, I would consider it. However, I probably would do that in a situation where like Nesta takes a boxing class and she just gets really annoyed with some of the other men (namely Cassian) because they’re very flirtatious and she’s one of the only women in this class so Devlon is the one who starts primarily teaching her and she takes private lessons from him.

Lol I would laugh the entire time I would be writing this though and it would definitely be cursed… though how much worse than Nesta and Amren you know?

Probably not. Writing Neris started to annoy me and then it wasn’t fun anymore…

But maybe if I ever get super super mad at canon one day and I just have the energy for it (shrugs).

The boob connoisseur says yes, sirree, she has the biggest boobs. Full moons is what they are and Cassian is the moth. They’re leading him straight home, navigating his way.

Mor is probably next… then Feyre (average size for the most average character known to man–and this is canon), then Amren or Elain in a race between smallest. Amren because she reminds me of many flat chested, angry and small anime characters and Elain because well that really is canon and small boobs are cute, too. No hate to any boob size.

But Nesta’s are the biggest. As is Cassian’s sandwich, which is why they’re mates. Clearly. 🙄

I always think these hearts are a secret message that I don’t know how to read but…

The one scene I particularly want to write is Nesta visiting her sisters, but after they leave she asks Cassian for the truth and he think she means about why she was in the house, what had happened in her past, maybe Feyre tells her something and now he’s in big trouble. But Nesta just tells him that she saw the pictures on the wall and she’s not there, so she could tell her and her sisters must have not been that close. Nesta wants him to confirm this. She’s actually very pragmatic about this. That hey if they’re not close and if their relationship is better off separate than she’ll respect those wishes, but it’s Cassian who wants to push the rhetoric that they’re actually very close. Because he is filled with this naïve hope that he can change things and he should. And even though the situation gets messier because now he’s just rewriting the narrative, he is now seeing how it might look from her point of view, and how ostracized Nesta is truly. Like how can you provide proof of love, if there is no evidence.

So it gets complicated, because he starts wanting to make that proof… but he still won’t tell her the truth. But will I continue and actually write this? Idk. That’s an unanswerable question to me usually. But thank you for the nice compliment and for enjoying this fic enough to leave an anon!

Lmao I have like several asks about this fic that is not a fic. But I will see if I can write anymore and hopefully something comes out of that. I really like Lucien and Nesta together for some reason, but it’s just something that I don’t feel like writing snippets for. I want to write whole chapters.

But unfortunately Neris was my hyperfixation for like the month of December I think? November? That being said I really don’t know what to write for them anymore so I kind of assume I’m over this ship. Though maybe not… ehh. I go through phases like the moon.

But there are a few other people who write Neris and have been writing Neris. Which is like @flowerflamestars (I think) @a-court-of-valkyries @separatist-apologist and @moodymelanist (though her fic is not posted yet, just snippets).

Though if you have any specific idea that you want to see in Vices and Virtues (the Neris fic) you’re more than welcome to drop then in an ask and I can see if it inspires anything.
