The "Swan Shabby Chic Cottage" Dollhouse is ready for it's new owner,Barbara. This is the same house I wrote the how to book on. But I added a couple of inches. The original is 15 1/4" and this one is 18 1/2" tall. I made the screen door out of 2 pieces of 1/16" bass. And used real screen material in between. In this version I also decided to add a tiny chimney to hide all the batteries and switches. Barbara and her daughter chose the pink swan wallpaper I had once used in a house called…

I call this new house "Un Autre Ete Cottage" (Another Summer Cottage). The color of the exterior reminded me so much of Summer. This one is completely furnished. It's a romantic and feminine Summer house. Full of all the girlie charm yet sophisticated and elegant. The perfect Summer cottage! This house is 13" deep x 10 3/4" across x 21 3/8" tall The exterior is a light sky blue. It has been perfectly aged to look like a 100 year old well loved cottage. Our new obsession is adding tons and…

I'm back after a few absent weeks. First, I went to the beach for a vacation. Then I took a couple of weeks to come up and build a new design. This is Heritage House. La Maison de thee de Marie Antoinette is a 1/12 scale custom dollhouse. For this one I wanted a sophisticated and feminine look. So I thought a house where Marie Antoinette would have had her tea and macarons would be adorable. Here is the result: Here is a closeup of the battery and switch system I use for the lights and fire. These flowers and greenery are from Hobby Lobby. They are regular size florals. I just look for some that I can cut up into small pieces when I'm shopping. I hope you…

Cinderella Moments: Tips For A Shabby Chic Dollhouse Look Apartment Dollhouse, Painting Dollhouse, Blue Chest Of Drawers, French Dollhouse, Miniature Dollhouses, Cinderella Moments, Aubusson Rugs, Shabby Look, Furniture Painting

How do I get that vintage, shabby chic, tattered look for my dollhouses? This is a question I'm asked over and over. So here's a little post about my favorite things that help me accomplish the look. First, you may already have furniture pieces with beautiful lines that just need a little touch of revamp! You can either strip them with a furniture stripper you buy at the hardware store. Don't get the spray. There isn't enough in there and you don't have control of where it goes. Best to put…
