Eichler kitchen

In the fall of 2019, a young couple purchased a home with dreams of restoring its original Eichler charm while infusing it with modern sensibilities. For the task, the owners enlisted the expertise of Blaine Architects + Marshall Interiors. The task was to revamp the main living spaces – the kitchen, living room, dining room, and family room – and to rekindle the home’s Eichler roots. Click to take a tour.

The expanded kitchen has a large central island, with room for prep, seating, storage, and cooking. The cabinetry is a mix of wood, Shinnoki Milk Oak, and white fronts, Fenix NTM Bianco Kos. The terrazzo counters are by Concrete Collaborative.

Custom white oak cabinets compose the kitchen. They’re topped with Calacatta Bella Honed Marble. Fiber Stools by Muuto are tucked under the counter.

Michael Hennessey has refreshed a 1960s house in California built by Joseph Eichler, the father of America's modernist housing subdivisions.
