About Me

Hi, My name’s Paxon.

I’m naturalist and biologist at a little nature center in Houston, TX. Queer. Cis-male. Feminist. Birdwatcher. Books. Bikes. Hiking. (This is the 2nd version of my blog as the other version was murdered by Tumblr).

Feel free to drop by if you want to chat, get wildlife identified, or have any biology and natural history questions.

I have been in wildlife biology for 20 years. I have worked in a variety of locations:  with tundra nesting sea ducks in Alaska, guiding in Ecuador, leading hikes in the swamps of Southern Florida, monitoring Sea Turtles along the coast of Virginia, as well as teaching natural history and monitoring birds and frogs in a variety of places. My main interests are herpetology, ornithology, entomology, native wildflowers, marine science, malacology, and evolutionary biology.

I’m also really into Star Wars, hip hop, old punk and post punk, leftist politics, cats, queer theory, feminism, philosophy, vegetarian cuisine, and spending time outdoors.
