About this journal

The Transactions of the International Society for Music Information Retrieval publishes novel scientific research in the field of music information retrieval (MIR), an interdisciplinary research area concerned with processing, analysing, organising and accessing music information. We welcome submissions from a wide range of disciplines, including computer science, musicology, cognitive science, library & information science and electrical engineering.

TISMIR was established to complement the widely cited ISMIR conference proceedings and provide a vehicle for the dissemination of the highest quality and most substantial scientific research in MIR. TISMIR retains the Open Access model of the ISMIR Conference proceedings, providing rapid access, free of charge, to all journal content. In order to encourage reproducibility of the published research papers, we provide facilities for archiving the software and data used in the research. To avoid excessive cost to the authors or their institutions, TISMIR is published in electronic-only format.

Announcements

  • TISMIR Special Collection - Call for Papers - due date extended!

    Multi-Modal Music Information Retrieval

Guest editors: Igor Vatolkin, Mark Gotham, Xiao Hu, Cory McKay and Rui Pedro Paiva

Deadline for submissions - now extended to 01.09.2024

We have been delighted with the response to this collection and due to numerous requests for additional time, we are extending the deadline for all submissions to the 1st of September to allow a bit more time for teams to polish off their manuscripts and ensure high quality submissions for this collection.

In this special collection, we invite papers on multi-modal systems in all their diversity. We particularly encourage under-explored repertoire, new connections between fields, and novel research areas. Contributions consisting of pure algorithmic improvements, empirical studies, theoretical discussions, surveys, guidelines for future research, and introductions of new data sets are all welcome, as the special collection will not only address multi-modal MIR, but also cover multi-perspective ideas, developments, and opinions from diverse scientific communities.

For more information, read the full post or download the full Call here or from the link in the title.

TISMIR is pleased to announce that we are now taking submissions for a new Educational Articles tract.

Educational articles are tutorial-style publications focused on MIR research and its applications. Their coverage may span specific techniques, fundamental principles, and practical aspects, reflecting the multifaceted and interdisciplinary interests of the MIR community. Educational articles should adhere to the highest standards in terms of language and presentation style, ensuring accessibility to a wide readership, including students, teachers, researchers, and practitioners.

You can find more information on our Educational Articles page.
