Portugal Producer Prices Change
In Portugal, the Industrial Production Price Index aims to show the monthly evolution of transaction prices in economic activities for the domestic and foreign markets. The indices are obtained based on the Survey on Prices in the Production of Industrial Products, carried out by electronic form, with companies based in the national territory, focusing mainly on the extractive, manufacturing and electricity, gas and water industries. About 10123 prices are collected every month. Intermediate goods is the biggest segment of producer prices, accounting for 36 percent of total PPI, followed by consumer goods (31 percent), energy (20 percent) and capital goods (12 percent).

Portugal Producer Prices Barely Rise in October
Producer prices in Portugal increased a meager 0.1% year-on-year in October 2024, the smallest rise in six months, following an upwardly revised 1% gain in September. The largest downward contribution came from cost of energy which fell 4.4%, the biggest drop so far this year. Excluding energy, producer prices went up 1%, with prices rising for consumption (1.1%) and intermediate (1.3%) goods. Compared to the previous month, the PPI declined 0.8%, following a 0.9% drop in September.

Portugal Producer Inflation Eases to 0.9% in September
Producer prices in Portugal rose 0.9% year-on-year in September 2024, marking the slowest growth since May, and easing from a 2% increase in the previous month. Inflation edged down for intermediate goods (1.7% vs 1.4% in August) and consumer goods (3.3% vs 3.4%). In addition, prices fell for energy (-3.4% vs 1.5%) and intermediate goods (-0.2% vs 0%). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined by 1%, following a flat reading in August.
