Household consumption in France increased by 0.3% month-on-month in November 2024, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.3% decline in October. The recovery was primarily driven by higher consumption of engineered goods (+0.9% vs. -1.3% in October), durable goods (+1.9% vs. -0.4%), and other engineered goods (+0.2% vs. -0.1%). In contrast, food consumption grew at a slower pace (0.3% vs. 1.3% in October), while energy consumption continued to decline (-0.8% vs. -1.2%), largely due to a further drop in electricity usage.

Household consumption in France tumbled 0.4% month-on-month in October 2024 from 0.1% rise in the previous month. The downturn was primarily driven by a sharp slip in spending on manufactured goods (-1.3% vs. 1.6% in September), with lower expenditures on textiles, clothing, and durable goods. Moreover, energy consumption continued to decline (-1.2% vs. -0.3%), largely due to reduced electricity and gas usage. On the other hand, food consumption rebounded (1.2% vs -1.4), driven mainly by increased purchases of agri-food products, particularly "other food products."
