Captain James Cook (1728-1779) was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy. The PERA was a three-masted German ship out of Hamburg. It was built in 1890 by J. C. Tecklenborg, in Geestemünde, Germany. Handwritten on a sticky attached to back of photo: 3 masted German Bark Built in 1890, taken in Port Blakley, 1901. Alex Teschner was captain of the PERA from 1896 to 1905. PH Coll 318.532
