What is a saltbox house? Named for the shape of the container salt once came in, these homes have a sloped roof that extends farther down on one side.

A fun fact about saltbox houses is that the name was inspired by wooden salt storage boxes, which look like miniature versions of the actual homes. These salt boxes were common in Colonial kitchens. #HouseDesign #Architecture #SaltBoxHouse
